Copa Príncipe De Asturias
The Copa Princesa de Asturias de Baloncesto (English: ''Princess of Asturias' Cup of Basketball'') is an annual 2nd-tier level national cup competition for Spanish professional basketball teams, that is organized by Spain's 2nd-tier level professional league, the Liga Española de Baloncesto (LEB). It was first played in 1987. Since 2009, at the end of the first half of the season, the top two teams from the LEB Oro qualify. The Final is at champions venue. In 2015, the cup changed its name from ''Copa Príncipe de Asturias'' to ''Copa Princesa de Asturias'', as Leonor de Borbón became Princess of Asturias. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. Villanueva de la Serena is a city in the Province of Badajoz, Extremadura, Spain. It has a population of 26,111 (2010) and forms part of a larger urban area with the neighbouring town of Don Benito. History Founded in the thirteenth century as ''Aldeanueva de Medellín'', the city was an important centre for the Mesta in the Middle Ages. Gijón Baloncesto
Gijón Baloncesto was a basketball team based in Gijón, Asturias, Spain. History Gijón Baloncesto was established in 1982, after taking over the franchise of another local team, Real Grupo de Cultura Covadonga, who was undergoing financial difficulties. In its first year, the club played in the third tier and immediately promoted to Primera División B, the second division in the Spanish league system. GB continued playing in the second tier from 1984 to 1995, when the club achieves promotion to Liga ACB after finishing runner-up of the 1994–95 Liga EBA and beating Lucentum in the semifinal game. The club only remained one season and could not avoid relegation by losing the relegation playoffs against Ourense by 1–3. From 1996 to 1999, Gijón Baloncesto played in the new second league: LEB. Cantabria Baloncesto
Cantabria Baloncesto was a professional basketball team who played during five seasons in Liga ACB. The team was also known as Cantabria Lobos. From 1975 to 2004 the team was based and played in Torrelavega, but after the 2003-04 season the Cantabria Lobos moved to Santander, Cantabria. In 2008, the team renounced their spot in the LEB Oro and played in LEB Bronce. After that season, Cantabria Baloncesto ceased in activity but was not dissolved.
