Copa Centro-Oeste
Copa Centro-Oeste ( en, Center-West Cup) was a Brazilian football competition contested between Center-West region teams and teams from the Southeastern State Espírito Santo. For one edition, it was also contested by teams from Minas Gerais. Minas Gerais state clubs only competed in the first Copa Centro-Oeste edition, in 1999, joining the new Copa Sul-Minas in 2000. Cruzeiro, from Minas Gerais, won the Cup and was the only non-Central Western team to reach the finals in the four editions of the tourney. Penalty Shootout (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any). Brasília Futebol Clube, commonly referred to as Brasília, is a Brazilian professional club based in Brasília, Distrito Federal founded on 2 June 1975. It competes in the Campeonato Brasiliense, the top flight of the Distrito Federal state football league. Clube Esportivo Operário Várzea-Grandense, often known as CEOV, Operário Várzea-Grandense, Operário-VG or simply Operário, is a Brazilian football team from Várzea Grande, Mato Grosso, founded on 1 May 1949. History The club was founded on 1 May 1949, and won their first title in 1964 after lifting the Campeonato Mato-Grossense. The club won two consecutive Mato-Grossense titles in 1967 and 1968, before repeating the feat in 1972 and 1973. Despite facing financial troubles in the 1980s, CEOV was the last club to play in a Série A campaign before the promotion of Cuiabá in 2021. In that decade, the club lifted three Mato-Grossense titles in a row, in 1985, 1986 and 1987. Itumbiara Esporte Clube, usually known simply as Itumbiara, is a Brazilian football club from Itumbiara, Goiás state. The club competed in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A in 1979 and won the state championship in 2008. History On March 9, 1970, Itumbiara Esporte Clube was founded, as a result of the merger of local teams ''Goiás'' (founded in 1964) and ''Nacional'' (founded in 1952). In 1979, Itumbiara competed in the top level of the Brazilian Championship, finishing in the 64th position. In 2008, Itumbiara won the state championship for the first time, after beating Goiás 1–0 and 3–0 in the final. Mixto Esporte Clube, usually known simply as Mixto, is a Brazilian football club from Cuiabá, Mato Grosso state. The club competed in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A several times and is one of the most popular clubs of Mato Grosso state.
