Cooper's Hill Football Club
Royal Indian Engineering College RFC was a nineteenth-century and early twentieth-century Surrey-based rugby union club, who were attached to Royal Indian Engineering College from 1871 to 1903. Formation The estate of Coopers Hill in Surrey was bought by the India Office in 1870; and a college was built to train civil engineers to be sent to India. The college was officially opened in 1872. The rugby club was formed in 1871. In its day, the college's rugby union team, referred to by its opponents as "Cooper's Hill", was one of the most prominent rugby clubs in England. By the 1890s, the team was deemed of medium strength, and a long way behind the form of its heyday. The Rugby Football Union (RFU) is the Sports governing body, national governing body for rugby union in England. It was founded in 1871, and was the sport's international governing body prior to the formation of what is now known as World Rugby (WR) in 1886. It promotes and runs the sport, organises international matches for the England national rugby union team, England national team, and educates and trains players and officials. The RFU is an industrial and provident society owned by over 2,000 member clubs, representing over 2.5 million registered players, and forms the largest rugby union society in the world, and one of the largest sports organisations in England. It is based at Twickenham Stadium, London. Scotland National Rugby Union Team
The Scotland national rugby union team represents Scotland in men's international rugby union and is administered by the Scottish Rugby Union. The team takes part in the annual Six Nations Championship and participates in the Rugby World Cup, which takes place every four years. Alexander Bisset
Alexander Bisset (18 October 1883 – 14 February 1927) was a Scotland international rugby union player. Rugby Union career Amateur career He played for Edinburgh Wanderers in 1902. He played for the Edinburgh Wanderers (so termed but a few Edinburgh Academicals players also found their way into the Wanderers line up) side to face Canada in December 1902. Bisset then played rugby union for RIE College at Cooper's Hill. He, later at the end of 1904, played for London Scottish. By 1905, Bisset was back in Scotland playing for Edinburgh Wanderers again. Provincial career He was capped by Provinces District in January 1904, playing against the Cities District. William Frederick Holms (27 August 1866 – 30 September 1950) was a British civil engineer and Scotland international rugby union player. He was the son of James and Annie Holms and was also a nephew of Liberal politicians, John Holms (MP for Hackney) and Col. William Holms (MP for Paisley). Rugby union career Amateur career Holms started his rugby union career playing for Blairlodge School. He was captain of the side in 1884. He was picked for Scotland and noted as a Blair Lodge player initially for the Ireland match in February 1886 – but by the time the match came around he was already snapped up by London Scottish and was previously listed as a London Scottish player in the Wales match in January 1886. Petley Price (25 April 1856 to 30 December 1910) was a rugby union international who represented England on three occasions from 1877 to 1878. Early life Petley Lloyd Augustus Price was born at Poonah, Bombay Presidency on 25 April 1856 and was baptised there. His father was Lieutenant-Colonel Augustus Price (14 June 1813 – 17 May 1860) of the 4th Bombay Rifles and his mother was Elizabeth Emma Hodgson (30 September 1819 – 24 October 1890), the daughter of Major-General Christopher Hodgson of the Bombay Artillery and his wife Elizabeth Rowlandson.
