Contra (writer)
Contra (real name Margus Konnula; born 22 March 1974, in Urvaste, Võru County) is an Estonian poet and translator. After 1994, he worked as a postman. From 1996 to 1999, he was the postmaster at Urvaste. After this job, he became a freelance writer and screenwriter. From 2004 to 2008, he was the editor of the local newspaper of the Urvaste Parish. He has won numerous Estonian-related and also other country awards. For example, in 2017, he received the Eduards Veidenbaums Literary Award. Võru County
Võru County ( et, Võru maakond or ''Võrumaa''; vro, Võro maakund) is a county in southern Estonia. It is bordered by Valga County and Põlva County and is the only Estonian county bordering two countries - Latvia (Alūksne Municipality and Ape Municipality) in the south and Russian Federation (Pskov Oblast) in the east. Urvaste Parish ( et, Urvaste vald, vro, Urvastõ vald) was a rural municipality of Estonia, in Võru County. It had a population of 1,413 (as of 1 January 2009) and an area of 139.62 km2. Eduards Veidenbaums
Eduards Veidenbaums (Glāznieki, Priekuļi parish, 3 October 1867 — Kalāči, Mūrmuiža parish, 24 May 1892) was a Latvian poet and translator. Biography Eduards Veidenbaums was born at the Glāznieki farmstead in the Priekuļi parish (now territory of Cēsis). In 1872 his family moved to Kālāči in the Mūrmuiža parish. In 1887 after finishing Riga governorate gymnasium, Veidenbaums started to study law at the University of Tartu. In May 1892 he died of tuberculosis after five months' illness.
