''Contemporary Works II'' is a limited edition 5-disc CD box set released by Klaus Schulze in 2002 containing new studio material. This set was released two years after ''Contemporary Works I''. One of the discs has been reissued in 2008 as part of the overall reissue program of Schulze back catalog by Revisited Records, another two were released by MIG Music in 2016 and 2017, and another one in 2018. Box Set
A box set or (its original name) boxed set is a set of items (for example, a compilation of books, musical recordings, films or television programs) traditionally packaged in a box and offered for sale as a single unit. Music Artists and bands with an extremely long and successful career often have anthology or "essential" collections of their boxes of music released as box sets. These often include rare and never-before-released tracks. Some box sets collect previously released boxes of singles or albums by a music artist, and often collect the complete discography of an artist such as Pink Floyd's ''Oh, by the Way'' and ''Discovery'' sets. Klaus Schulze
Klaus Schulze (4 August 1947 – 26 April 2022) was a German electronic music pioneer, composer and musician. He also used the alias Richard Wahnfried and was a member of the Krautrock bands Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra Tempel, and The Cosmic Jokers before launching a solo career consisting of more than 60 albums released across six decades. Early life Schulze was born in Berlin in 1947. His father was a writer and his mother a ballet dancer. After graduating from high school, he delivered telegrams and studied German at the Technical University of Berlin. He and his wife Elfie had two sons, Maximilian and Richard. Career 1970s In 1969, Schulze was the drummer of one of the early incarnations of Tangerine Dream - one of the most famous bands that got the nickname "Krautrock" in English speaking countries (others included Kraftwerk and Popul Vuh) - for their debut album ''Electronic Meditation''. Electronic music is a genre of music that employs electronic musical instruments, digital instruments, or circuitry-based music technology in its creation. Space music, also called spacemusic or space ambient, is a subgenre of new-age music and is described as "tranquil, hypnotic and moving". It is derived from ambient music and is associated with lounge music, easy listening, and elevator music. Limited Edition
The terms special edition, limited edition, and variants such as deluxe edition, or collector's edition, are used as a marketing incentive for various kinds of products, originally published products related to the arts, such as books, prints, recorded music and films, and videogames, but now including clothing, cars, fine wine, and whisky, among other products. A limited edition is restricted in the number of copies produced, although in fact the number may be very low or very high. Suzuki (2008) defines limited edition products as those “sold in a state that makes them difficult to obtain because of companies limiting their availability to a certain period, quantity, region, or channel". ''Contemporary Works I'' is a limited-edition 10-disc CD box set released by Klaus Schulze in 2000 containing new studio material. The CDs are in cardboard sleeves and housed in a wooden box. Two years later Schulze released ''Contemporary Works II''. Six of the discs have been reissued in 2005–2007 as part of the overall reissue program of Schulze back catalog by Revisited Records. Three more have been reissued in 2016–2018 by the label MiG. The Ultimate Edition
''The Ultimate Edition'' is a limited edition 50-disc CD box set released by Klaus Schulze in 2000 collecting his previous limited edition multi-disc box sets ''Silver Edition'' (1993, 10 discs), ''Historic Edition'' (1995, 10 discs), and ''Jubilee Edition'' (1997, 25 discs), which contain unreleased archival recordings in addition to new studio material. A further five discs were added for this release. Several discs were altered and restructured from their original versions: discs 7 and 8 were extended by five minutes; discs 11, 13, 14, and 22 were slightly remastered; and discs 41 and 42 were restructured. Two tracks from ''Jubilee Edition'' were omitted ("The Unspoken Thing" from Disc 19 and "Ludwigs Traum" from Disc 21).
