Constituencies Of Mauritius
Constituencies of Mauritius are the electoral boundaries within the Republic of Mauritius. They are also commonly referred to as ''Circonscriptions'' amongst the locals. The country follows the Westminster system and elects 60 members of parliament for a term of 5 years. There are in all 21 Constituencies in the republic, each of them returning 3 members with the exception of Constituency No 21, which returns only 2 members. The Constitution stipulates that there shall be 20 constituencies and one created specially for the Rodrigues island. Those electoral boundaries are considered to be the main pillars for elections as they allow members of parliament to be elected and thus to form the government. Anerood Jugnauth
Sir Anerood Jugnauth, GCSK, PV, (29 March 1930 – 3 June 2021) was a Mauritian politician and barrister who served both as President and Prime Minister of Mauritius. He was Member of Parliament for Piton & Riviere Du Rempart. A central figure of Mauritian politics in the 1980s and 1990s, he was Leader of the Opposition from 1976 to 1982. He served as Prime Minister from 1982 to 1995 and again from 2000 to 2003. He was then elected as President of Mauritius and served as such from 2003 to 2012. Following his party's victory in the 2014 general elections, he was appointed again to serve his sixth term as Prime Minister by President Kailash Purryag on 14 December 2014. He served four consecutive terms as Prime Minister from 1982 to 1995 and was then voted out of office from 1995 to 2000. Satya Veyash Faugoo (born सत्य वेयश फौगू, 1 April 1961) is the former Minister of Agro-Industry of Mauritius, serving in the cabinet of Navin Ramgoolam until December 2014. From 2005 to 2014, he was the 3rd Member of Parliament representing Constituency No 5,Triolet & Pamplemousses. Sangeet Fowdar FCCA, MP (born 5 September 1957) is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and Mauritian politician, serving as a Member of Parliament for Grand Baie & Poudre d'Or, Mauritius. He is a member of the Public Accounts Committee and the parliamentary representative for Mauritius at the World Trade Organization. Ashock Kumar Jugnauth, also known as Ashok Jugnauth (born आशोक कुमार जग्नोथ on 3 January 1951) is a Mauritian politician and former Member of Parliament. Early life and career Jugnauth was born at Palma, Quatre Bornes. He is the younger half-brother of Sir Anerood Jugnauth. He studied law and practised as a barrister in Mauritius. Moka
Moka () is a village in Mauritius located in the Moka District, the western part of the village also lies in the Plaines Wilhems District. Since 1967 it forms part of Constituency No. 8 Quartier Militaire and Moka. The village is administered by the Moka Village Council under the aegis of the Moka District Council. According to the census made by Statistics Mauritius in 2011, the population was at 8,846. The elevation is 203 meters and can be up to 425 meters in some places.
