Constituencies Of Namibia
Each of the 14 regions of Namibia is further subdivided into electoral constituencies. The size of the constituencies varies with the size and population of each region. There are currently 121 constituencies in Namibia. The most populous constituency according to the 2011 census was Rundu Urban in the Kavango West region with 63,431 people; the least populous was Okatyali in the Oshana region with 3,187 people. The administrative division of Namibia is tabled by ''Delimitation Commissions'' and accepted or declined by the National Assembly. In 1992, the First Delimitation Commission chaired by Judge President Johan Strydom determined the number of constituencies to be 95. Since then, every Delimitation Commission has increased this number to accommodate population growth. The fourth Delimitation Commission increased the number of constituencies to its present number in 2013. Karibib Constituency
Karibib constituency is a constituency in the Erongo Region of Namibia. It had a population of 13,320 in 2011, up from 12,084 in 2001. The district capital is the town of Karibib. the constituency had 9,617 registered voters. Politics In the 2010 regional elections, SWAPO's Ussiel Poulus Xoagub narrowly won the constituency with 1,498 votes. He defeated challenger Zedekias Tsamaseb of the United Democratic Front (UDF, 1,313 votes) and Manfriedt Weskop of the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP, 458 votes). The 2015 regional elections were won by Melania Ndjago of SWAPO with 1,902 votes. Tsamaseb of UDF came second with 1,212 votes while Christiaan Nguherimo of the RDP received 217 votes. Ndjago was narrowly reelected in the 2020 regional election, winning the constituency with 1,296 votes. UDF was again runner-up, its candidate Ernestus Axakhoeb received 1,172 votes. Daweb Constituency
Daweb Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Hardap Region of Namibia. It was created in August 2013, following a recommendation of the ''Fourth Delimitation Commission of Namibia'', and in preparation of the 2014 general election. Daweb constituency was formed from the western part of Gibeon Constituency. The administrative centre of Daweb Constituency is the village of Maltahöhe. the constituency had 3,297 registered voters. Politics In the 2015 regional elections Herculus Jantze of Swapo won the constituency with 853 votes, followed by the independent candidate Adam Johannes Baisako (199 votes), Paul Lucas Simon of the Democratic Party of Namibia (DPN, 108 votes) and Anna Lukas of the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA, 80 votes). The 2020 regional election was won by Nicodemus Jesajas Motinga of the Landless People's Movement (LPM, a new party registered in 2018). He obtained 963 votes. Aranos
Aranos is a town in the Hardap Region of central South east Namibia. The place normally receives an annual average rainfall of , although in the 2010/2011 rainy season were measured. Politics Until 2010 Aranos was governed by a 5-seat village council. Since it was upgraded to "town" status in 2010 there is now a town council that has seven seats. In the 2010 local authority election, SWAPO received the most votes with 546. The Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA) finished in 2nd place with 205 votes, followed by the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP, 186), SWANU (17) and the Congress of Democrats (15). SWAPO also won the 2015 election, gaining four seats in the town council (598 votes). The RDP gained two seats (246 votes), and the DTA one (194). The 2020 local authority election was won by the newly formed Landless People's Movement (LPM) which scored well all over Hardap. Aranos Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Hardap Region of Namibia. It was created in August 2013, following a recommendation of the ''Fourth Delimitation Commission of Namibia'', and in preparation of the 2014 general election. Aranos constituency was formed from the eastern part of Mariental Rural constituency. The administrative centre of Aranos Constituency is the town of Aranos. the constituency had 5,604 registered voters. Walvis Bay Urban
Walvis Bay Urban is a constituency in the Erongo Region of Namibia, comprising most of the city of Walvis Bay. It had a population of 35,828 in 2011, up from 27,941 in 2001. the constituency had 25,311 registered voters. Politics In the 2010 regional elections, SWAPO's Hafeni Ndemula won the constituency with 4,254 votes. His only challenger was Sippora Ndeshihala Kamati of the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP), who received 789 votes. Ndemula also won the 2015 regional elections with 3,719 votes. Clementia Hababeb of the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA) came second with 461 votes, and Cornelius John Jansen (RDP) obtained 192. After councillor Ndemula was fielded as a parliamentary candidate in the 2019 Namibian general election, a by-election became necessary for Walvis Bay Urban because Namibian electoral law prohibits sitting councillors and members of the public service to run for a seat in parliament. Walvis Bay
Walvis Bay ( en, lit. Whale Bay; af, Walvisbaai; ger, Walfischbucht or Walfischbai) is a city in Namibia and the name of the bay on which it lies. It is the second largest city in Namibia and the largest coastal city in the country. The city covers a total area of of land. The bay is a safe haven for sea vessels because of its natural deepwater harbour, protected by the Pelican Point sand spit, being the only natural harbour of any size along the country's coast. Being rich in plankton and marine life, these waters also drew large numbers of southern right whales, attracting whalers and fishing vessels. A succession of colonists developed the location and resources of this strategic harbour settlement. The harbour's value in relation to the sea route around the Cape of Good Hope had caught the attention of world powers since it was discovered by the outside world in 1485. Walvis Bay Rural constituency is a constituency in the Erongo Region of Namibia. It comprises the rural area surrounding the constituency's district capital city of Walvis Bay, and additionally some streets on the outskirts of the city. Swakopmund
Swakopmund (german: Mouth of the Swakop) is a city on the coast of western Namibia, west of the Namibian capital Windhoek via the B2 main road. It is the capital of the Erongo administrative district. The town has 44,725 inhabitants and covers of land. The city is situated in the Namib Desert and is the fourth largest population centre in Namibia. Swakopmund is a beach resort and an example of German colonial architecture. It was founded in 1892 as the main harbour for German South West Africa. Buildings in the city include the '' Altes Gefängnis'', a prison designed by Heinrich Bause in 1909. The ''Woermannhaus'', built in 1906 with a prominent tower (Damara tower), is now a public library.
