Confessions Of A Wife
''Confessions of a Wife'' is a 1928 American silent drama film directed by Albert H. Kelley and starring Helene Chadwick, Walter McGrail and Ethel Grey Terry.Munden p.143 A married woman loses huge amounts of money playing cards. She is blackmailed by her creditors into gaining them access to a ball where the wealthy will all be wearing their most expensive jewellery. She agrees to their terms, but also contacts the police who are able to thwart the plot. Carl Gerard (born Carl Gerhard Petersen; 28 September 1885 – 6 January 1966), sometimes credited as Carl Gerrard, was a Danish-American actor known for playing supporting roles. Biography Gerard spent much of his career in Los Angeles and once worked alongside legendary actor Boris Karloff in the film ''The Public Defender'' (1931), in which he and his colleagues attempt to protect a millionaire from being framed. He married American actress Ethel Grey Terry in 1910 and remained with her until her death in 1931. Gerard died on 6 January 1966 in Los Angeles of a heart attack at the age of 80. De Sacia Mooers (November 19, 1888 – January 11, 1960) was a film actress, disputably from Los Angeles, California. She appeared in over one hundred movies in the silent film era. She was perhaps best known as the "Blonde Vamp" for her role in ''The Blonde Vampire'' in 1922. Her career ended with talking films. Early life Newspaper accounts of the era differ as to her birthplace. At the time, it was common for the various studios to exaggerate or fabricate an actor's biography to make them seem more exotic and interesting to the general public. One report contends that she was a Los Angeles native and a member of the California Saville family. This is borne out by the fact that she was billed as De Sacia Saville in the serial ''The Son of Tarzan'' (1920). The Savilles were among California's pioneer settlers. Samuel "Sam" William Lufkin (May 8, 1891 – February 19, 1952) was an American actor who usually appeared in small or bit roles in short comedy films. Career Born in Utah, Lufkin spent most of his career at the Hal Roach Studios where he made over 60 films. In over half of these, he appeared alongside Laurel and Hardy, again mostly in small parts, but occasionally in more substantial roles, such as an irascible cop (''The Music Box''), or an irate motorist ('' Two Tars''). After Laurel and Hardy left Roach in 1940, the grim-faced Lufkin mostly appeared in further bit roles in Hollywood feature films before his death of uremia in 1952.
