Comrock
Comrock is the name of a record label created in Mexico in the 1980s that was dedicated to promoting rock bands. It was coordinated by Ricardo Ochoa, guitar player of Kenny y los Eléctricos, and brought a wide audience to many Mexican bands. Five finalist bands were selected to obtain a recording contract for an LP. Two songs from each of these finalist bands were included on the compilation disk. The name of the label came from a fusion of the words "compañía" (company) and "rock", and meant "the rock company". The groups were: * Ritmo Peligroso * Kenny y los Eléctricos * Mask * Los Clips * Punto y Aparte * Luzbel * El Tri (band), El Tri Both Ritmo Peligroso and Kenny y los Eléctricos changed their names; originally they were named Dangerous Rhythm and Kenny & the Electrics. Kenny Y Los Eléctricos
Kenny y los Eléctricos is a rock band founded in 1980 by the singer and band leader Kenny Aviles, who has been called "the mother of Mexican rock". The band started in Los Angeles, where they made their first public appearances under the name Kenny and The Electrics, playing in venues like Whisky a Go Go. They moved back to Mexico in 1980 and went on to be considered an internationally important Rock music in Mexico, Mexican rock band, emblematic of Mexican rock in the 1980s. Aviles has been called the Mexican Pat Benatar and one of the most-important women in Mexican rock. Ritmo Peligroso
Ritmo Peligroso is a Mexican post-punk/rock band that was created in 1978 and known until 1985 as Dangerous Rhythm. Under that name, they created the first Mexican punk rock band, with strong influences from international punk subcultures. They sang most of their music in English. They would evolve to different sounds over the years, finally reaching the one that would bring them such enormous success in the mid to late 1980s. In the new incarnation of the band in 1998, bassist Avi Michel Jr., drummer Jorge Gato Arce, and guitar players Moongus Ávila Costa and Mosy (the newest member of the band) that joined these band in 2012, share the stage with Mexican/Cuban singer Piro Pendas. Luzbel is a Heavy metal music, heavy metal band from Mexico founded in 1982 by Raul Fernandez Greñas (lead guitar), Antonio "la Rana" Morante (bass guitar), Jorge Cabrera (vocals), Hugo Tames (drums) and Fernando Landeros (guitar). Rostros Ocultos is a Mexican rock-pop band founded in 1985, who were moderately well known in the 80s. It was part of the post-movement started by Caifanes, and it was one of the bands that followed its principles, along with Santa Sabina, , Fobia, El Tri, and Maná, among others. El Tri is a Mexican rock band from Mexico City fronted by Alex Lora. It is a spinoff of Three Souls in My Mind, formed in 1968. The group is regarded as influential in the development of Mexican rock music. () is an indoor arena located in Mexico City, Mexico. It is within the Magdalena Mixhuca Sports City complex, near the Mexico City International Airport and in front of the Foro Sol, in which sports and artistic events are also celebrated. José Fors
José Fors Fierro (born 30 July 1958) is a Cuban singer and artist best known as the leading member of the bands Cuca and Forseps. Biography Fors was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1958. At the age of three he and his family moved to Miami, Florida where he studied painting. In 1967 his family moved to Mexico City, where he lived for the remainder of his childhood. Later on he moved again to Guadalajara where he has lived most of his life. In 1976 he studied anatomical drawing with Robert Martinez and started working with musical groups such as Mask and Lepra. In 1985 he developed an ambitious project with Carlos Esegé (''née'' Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez) called Duda Mata. La Cuca
Cuca is a Mexican alternative metal band from Guadalajara, Jalisco that was formed in 1989 by musician and painter José Fors (vocals). Their first official concert, according to the band, was on February 14, 1990. Their first record, '' La Invasión de los Blátidos'' (1992), set them apart from any other Mexican band, since the album contained irreverent, humorous, curse-word laden lyrics and an aggressive sound that, at the time, was not expected in Mexican music. "Cuca" is an apocope for ''cucaracha'' (cockroach), and ''blátidos'' means blattodea, which is the scientific name given to cockroaches. In 1999, the band split up for unspecified reasons.
