Complete Music Update
Complete Music Update, originally called College Music Update, and better known as CMU or the CMU Daily, is a music news service and website aimed at people working in the UK music business and music media. It primarily provides news and information about the music business, music media and music world. It is now best known for its daily email newsletter, the CMU Daily. Its current editor is Andy Malt. CMU is owned by UnLimited Media, which also publishes the Edinburgh Festival magazine ''ThreeWeeks''. Launch and aims CMU was co-founded by Chris Cooke, Alastair Walker and Fraser Thomson in 1998. ThreeWeeks
''ThreeWeeks'' is a magazine that covers the Edinburgh Festivals in August. It has covered the Edinburgh Festival since 1996 . It also covered the Brighton Festival from 2006 to 2010, but withdrew due to lack of financial support. Education Programme ''ThreeWeeks'' also operates a media education programme for students and young journalists. These students form the magazine's review team. This team reviewed approximately 1600 shows at the Edinburgh Festival in 2012 and 1,371 in 2013. Fraser Thomson
Fraser Thomson was the presenter of the now defunct Real Radio Scotland Football Phone In, fielding the calls for Alan Rough and Derek Johnstone. He is a fan, and former stadium announcer, of St Johnstone FC, and has previously worked for Youth FM, Tay FM, Beat 106. He is one of the few people to have a degree in Scottish Ethnology from the University of Edinburgh and owns a cat named Scully. A former presenter of the blimey show on student radio, he once played Parklife 26 times in a row. ''Music Week'' is a trade publication for the UK record industry distributed via a website and a monthly print magazine. It is published by Future. The Great Escape Festival
The Great Escape Festival is a three-day music festival held in Brighton and Hove, England every year in May. It is operated by MAMA Festivals and showcases new music from a variety of genres. The festival was founded in 2006 and roughly hosts 300 bands across 30 venues throughout the city. It has been likened to South by Southwest. There is also a music industry convention section to the event, which is attended by over 3000 delegates. The 2011-2014 conferences have been programmed by the team from music industry publication Complete Music Update, CMU. Speakers have included Michael Eavis, DJ Shadow, Paul Epworth, and representatives of companies such as Beggars Group, Ticketmaster, PRS for Music, Universal Music Group and Topspin. Rose Elinor Dougall
Rose Elinor Dougall (born 13 March 1986) is an English singer, songwriter and musician. She was a member of The Pipettes and has performed with Mark Ronson. She also performs and records as a solo artist. Career Dougall joined The Pipettes in 2003 after being introduced to the initial line-up by Monster Bobby at The Basketmakers pub in Brighton. With The Pipettes, Dougall took lead vocals on the singles "Judy" and "Dirty Mind". During her time with The Pipettes, she also provided guest vocals for The Young Playthings, Brakes and Dr Colossus. On 18 April 2008, it was announced in a blog post on the band's Myspace that Dougall and bandmate Rebecca Stephens had amicably left the band "to pursue other musical projects". Maths Class were a British band from that formed in 2006 in Brighton, England, and achieved publicity through their Myspace. They have a wide range of influences and have played extensively around the UK and in Europe. They have also toured Japan in September 2008. History Beginnings Maths Class first gained publicity when they approached Shitdisco, who were playing at The Great Escape, and asked them if they could support them at their house party. After supporting some of the best new bands around at the moment they were noticed by the media. The ''NME'' have highly recommended them as a breaking band, and they have been featured heavily in Artrocker. Vessels (band)
Vessels are an English band from Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, who formed in 2005. The band started out as a post-rock outfit, but later evolved into a live techno act, notably with the release of their third album, ''Dilate''. Its follow-up, ''The Great Distraction'', was released in 2017. History Several members of Vessels had been playing music together since the early 2000s. They went through a few different lineups and band names before they formed Vessels in 2005. On 5 March 2007, the band released a limited 7" single ("Yuki" / "Forever the Optimist") through Cuckundoo Records, and were tipped by BBC Radio 1 as one of the hottest new bands in the country. Infadels
Infadels were a London-based indie-electro band signed to the Wall of Sound record label. Infadels were founded in 2003 by Alex Bruford (drums), Matt Gooderson (guitar, programming) and Bnann Watts (vocals), who were joined shortly afterwards by Dead at Thirty founder Richie Vernon (live keys) and Wag Marshall-Page (Bass). Their debut album, ''We Are Not the Infadels'', was produced by Jagz Kooner and released in January 2006.
