Communist Youth Movement (Netherlands)
The Communist Youth Movement ( nl, Communistische Jongerenbeweging, CJB) is a political youth organisation in the Netherlands. The CJB was founded on 21 September 2003, as an independent continuation of the youth of the New Communist Party of the Netherlands, (NCPN Youth). It is the official youth organisation of the NCPN and publishes (Onwards!), an online magazine. Organization The CJB in organized in different regions and chapters. The highest membership body is the general meeting, which is held once every two years. The movement is organized along the lines of democratic centralism. Chapters are active in North Holland, Overijssel, West Brabant, South Holland and Groningen. There are also members throughout the country who are not part of a chapter. The CJB is an autonomous youth organisation, but is aligned with the NCPN politically. The CJB permits only dual membership of the NCPN and not of other political parties. Communist Party Of Greece
The Communist Party of Greece ( el, Κομμουνιστικό Κόμμα Ελλάδας, ''Kommounistikó Kómma Elládas'', KKE) is a political party in Greece. Founded in 1918 as the Socialist Labour Party of Greece and adopted its current name in November 1924. It is the oldest political party in modern Greek politics. The party was banned in 1936, but played a significant role in the Greek resistance and the Greek Civil War, and its membership peaked in the mid-1940s. Legalization of the KKE was restored following the fall of the Greek military junta of 1967–1974. ''De Groene Amsterdammer'' is an independent Dutch weekly news magazine published in Amsterdam and distributed throughout the Netherlands. It is conventionally considered to be one of the four major weeklies, alongside ''HP/De Tijd'', ''Vrij Nederland'' and ''Elsevier''. History and profile ''De Groene Amsterdammer'' was founded in 1877, making it one of the oldest Dutch news magazines still in existence. General Dutch Youth League
(ANJV) was a political youth movement in the Netherlands. ANJV was founded on 15 June 1945, in Concert building, Amsterdam. The ANJV was an independent youth organisation inspired by, and with links to, the (Communist Party of the Netherlands). Contrary to popular belief, the ANJV was not the youth organisation of the CPN, but had an independent broad "all-youth" structure, similar to that of the East-German (FDJ). February Strike
The February strike ( nl, Februaristaking) was a general strike in the German-occupied Netherlands in 1941, during World War II, organised by the then-outlawed Communist Party of the Netherlands in defence of persecuted Dutch Jews and against the anti-Jewish measures and activities of the Nazis in general. The direct causes were a series of arrests and pogroms held by the Germans in the Jewish neighbourhood of Amsterdam, the Jodenbuurt. It started on 25 February 1941 and lasted for two days; on 26 February, 300,000 Amsterdam people joined the strike. The strike was harshly suppressed by the Germans after three days. The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is observed annually on 21 March. On that day, in 1960, police opened fire at a peaceful demonstration in Sharpeville, South Africa, against the apartheid pass laws; 69 people were killed, and 180 were injured. International Workers' Day, also known as Labour Day in some countries and often referred to as May Day, is a celebration of labourers and the working classes that is promoted by the international labour movement and occurs every year on 1 May, or the first Monday in May. The Federation of Dutch Trade Unions ( nl, Federatie Nederlandse Vakbeweging, FNV) is a national trade union centre in the Netherlands. In addition to member unions, workers in many sectors can join the FNV directly. A union organizer (or union organiser in Commonwealth spelling) is a specific type of trade union member (often elected) or an appointed union official.
