Beuil
Beuil (; oc, Buelh; it, Boglio) is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. Geography Beuil is a village located in the Maritime Alps, away from Nice. It is the gateway to the Mercantour National Park. A stop-off in the Red-rocked Gorges of the Cians and Daluis. The commune is traversed by the Raton River. Berre-les-Alpes (; oc, Bèrra) is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. Toponymy By a decree of 22 December 1997, Berre-''des''-Alpes became Berre-les-Alpes. Geography "The superb national road from Nice to Coni by the Escarène and Sospel, detaches a path of common interest along the col de Saint-Roch, or the pass of Nice, which follows the sinuosities of the hill over a length of four kilometers. After making two-thirds of the journey, you can see the picturesque and charming village of Berre-des-Alpes, leaning against the end of a plateau at 680 meters above sea level", wrote Jean Truchi in the 1899 issue of ''Nice-Historique''. Belvédère
Belvédère (; oc, Barver; it, Belvedere) is a commune in the Vésubie valley north of Nice in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. The village of Belvédère is located at the entrance of the Gordolasque valley on the edge of the Mercantour National Park. Over its history the Commune of Belvédère has been part of the Kingdom of Burgundy, the Kingdom of Sardinia, the First French Empire, the Duchy of Savoy and since 1860 modern France. The last battle on French soil in the Second World War, the Battle of Authion, was fought on the hills above the village. Beausoleil, Alpes-Maritimes
Beausoleil (; oc, Bèusoleu ; ) is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southeastern France. It adjoins the Principality of Monaco to its south. The commune of Beausoleil was established in 1904; it was supposed to be named Monte-Carlo Supérieur (; ) for a time but the idea was abandoned after protests from Monégasque authorities. In 2017, it had a population of 13,607. Geography Located on a hillside above the city-state of Monaco, Beausoleil is surrounded by the Tête de Chien and Agel mountains. Beaulieu-sur-Mer
Beaulieu-sur-Mer (; oc, Bèuluec de Mar; it, Belluogo; "Beautiful Place on the Sea"), commonly referred to simply as Beaulieu, is a seaside commune on the French Riviera between Nice and the Principality of Monaco. Located in the Alpes-Maritimes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, it borders the communes of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and Villefranche-sur-Mer, not far from Èze to the northeast. In 2018, Beaulieu-sur-Mer had a population of 3,731. Its inhabitants are called ''Berlugans'' (masculine) and ''Berluganes'' (feminine). History Beaulieu-sur-Mer was inhabited in prehistoric times; a port was built by Ligurians before Romans took over the site. Le Bar-sur-Loup
Le Bar-sur-Loup (, literally ''Le Bar on Loup (river), Loup''; oc, So Barn; it, Albarno) is a Communes of France, commune in the Alpes-Maritimes Departments of France, department in southeastern France. Originally known simply as Le Bar, the commune was renamed Le Bar-sur-Loup by a decree dated 27 March 1961 published in the ''Journal Officiel de la République Française, Journal Officiel'' on 1 April, with effect from 2 April 1961. Its inhabitants are known as ''aubarnais'' - ''aubarnenc'' in Occitan language, Occitan - or simply ''barois''. Geography The commune gets its name from the Loup (river), Loup, a coastal river that runs through it. The Loup flows into the Mediterranean near Villeneuve-Loubet. History The first record of the commune was recorded in 1078, in the book ''Albarnum or Poncii Albarni''. Bairols
Bairols (; oc, Bairòls) is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of south-eastern France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Bairolois'' or ''Bairoloises''. The commune has been awarded two flowers by the ''National Council of Towns and Villages in Bloom'' in the ''Competition of cities and villages in Bloom''. Geography Bairols is located at an altitude of 830 metres on a rocky ridge some 20 km north of Gilette and 5 km north of Villars-sur-Var. Access to the commune is by the M26 road from Tournefort in the south which passes through the south-eastern corner of the commune and connects with the tortuous M56 road which continues to the village. The commune is a rugged alpine commune. The Tinée river forms the eastern border of the commune as it flows south to join the Var. Auvare
Auvare (; oc, Auvara) is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of south-eastern France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Auvarois'' or ''Auvaroises''. Geography Auvare is located some 45 km north-east of Nice (in a direct line) and 6 km north-east of Puget-Théniers in the heart of the Alps. Access to the commune is by the D16 road from Puget-Theniers which passes through the far south of the commune and continues, changing its designation to D316, to join the D2202 just south of Daluis. Access to the village in the centre of the commune is by a small local road which branches from the D16 in the south of the commune and follows a tortuous and long route to the village. There is also an equally tortuous route going west from the village which eventually meets the D316 west of the commune. Apart from the village there is the hamlet of Les Vignes towards the south.
