Communauté d'agglomération Cœur d'Essonne (also: ''Cœur d'Essonne Agglomération'') is an agglomeration community, an intercommunal structure, centred on the city of Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, a southern suburb of Paris. Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, Essonne
Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois (often abbreviated to SGdB) is a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 23.5 km (14.6 miles) from the center of Paris, in the arrondissement of Palaiseau, Essonne department, ÃŽle-de-France. History Inhabitants of Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois are known as ''Génovéfains''. There has been a settlement in what is now Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois since Roman times. In 1800 it was still a small settlement with around 100 inhabitants. After the armistice in 1918 the population was counted at less than 800. The boom started in the 1920s when inhabitants of Paris wanted affordable housing. This boom was in part because the railway station of Perray was built, connecting the town to Paris. The population at the moment is over 30.000 inhabitants, making it one of the larger settlements in the Essonne departement. Villiers-sur-Orge (, literally ''Villiers on Orge'') is a commune in the arrondissement of Palaiseau, in the Essonne department, in the Île-de-France region. Inhabitants of Villiers-sur-Orge are known as ''Villiérains''. Longpont-sur-Orge (, literally ''Longpont on Orge'') is a commune in the Essonne department in Île-de-France in northern France. From 1954 to 1962, the villa in Longpont-sur-Orge owned by William and Noma Copley served as a social hub and a central gathering place in the postwar era for a community of Surrealists to reunite after their dispersal during the war. Among the artists who frequented the villa located at 27, rue du Docteur Darier were Man Ray, Henri Matisse, Marcel Duchamp, Roland Penrose, Lee Miller, and British architect Maxwell Fry.
