Comme des Garçons (also known as CDG) is a Japanese fashion label based in Paris that was created and led by Rei Kawakubo. Its French flagship store is located in Paris. This label owns a world-wide store chain featuring various lines of products in major cities such as London, Melbourne, Hong Kong, New York City and in the Ginza district of Tokyo. Other than fashion, the label has expanded to include jewelry and perfume. The company features its main collections during Paris Fashion Week and Paris Men's Fashion Week. In 2017, it was reported that the company and its affiliates generated a revenue "of over $280 million a year". History The label was started in Tokyo by Rei Kawakubo in 1969 and established as a company in 1973. It is written in Japanese as コム・デ・ギャルソン (''Komu de Gyaruson''). Rei Kawakubo
(b. 1942) is a Japanese fashion designer based in Tokyo and Paris. She is the founder of Comme des Garçons and Dover Street Market. In recognition of the notable design contributions of Kawakubo, an exhibition of her designs entitled '' Rei Kawakubo/Commes des Garçons, Art of the In-Between'' opened on 5 May 2017 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan, modeled by Rihanna. Early life and education Rei Kawakubo was born on 11 October 1942 in Tokyo. Her early life in Japan was summarized by Judith Thurman in a ''New Yorker'' article from 2005 stating: "She was the oldest of her parents' three children and their only daughter... Their father was an administrator at Keio University, a prestigious institution founded by the great Meiji educator and reformer Fukuzawa Yukichi, a champion of Western culture and, according to Kawakubo, of women's rights." Katerina Jebb
Katerina Jebb (born 15 November 1962) is a British-born artist, photographer and film-maker. She has previously lived and worked in Los Angeles, California. In 1989, Katerina Jebb moved to Paris. Katerina Jebb's work is the subject of an exhibition at the Musée Réattu, Arles, July 2016-January 2017 Technique Olivier Saillard, Director of the Musée Galliera, wrote the following text concerning her work: ''I feel that Katerina Jebb desires to produce photographic works to chase away her doubts.
