''Comin' Round the Mountain'' is a 1940 American comedy film directed by George Archainbaud and written by Lewis R. Foster, Maxwell Shane and Duke Atteberry. The film stars Bob Burns, Una Merkel, Jerry Colonna, Don Wilson, Pat Barrett, Harold Peary and Bill Thompson. The film was released on August 16, 1940, by Paramount Pictures. Plot After briefly moving to the big city, Jed Blower, a musician, moves back to his hometown in rural Tennessee and becomes mayor. He then tries to convince his family to go to the city and play their music on the radio. George Archainbaud
George Archainbaud (May 7, 1890 – February 20, 1959) was a French-American film and television director. Biography In the beginning of his career he worked on stage as an actor and manager. He came to the United States in January 1914, and started his film career as an assistant director to Emile Chautard at the World Film Company in Fort Lee, New Jersey. In 1917 he made his own directorial debut '' As Man Made Her''. During the next three and a half decades he directed over one hundred films. After the beginning of the 1950s he moved to television. While working at RKO Radio Pictures in the beginning of the 1930s, he showed some artistic and skillful eye with many of his films. The genre is one of the oldest in American cinema; some of the first silent movies were comedies, as slapstick comedy often relies on visual depictions, without requiring sound. Olin Ross Howland (February 10, 1886 – September 20, 1959) was an American film and theatre actor. Life and career Howland was born in Denver, Colorado, to Joby A. Howland, one of the youngest enlisted participants in the Civil War, and Mary C. Bunting. His sister was stage actress Jobyna Howland. From 1909 to 1927, Howland appeared on Broadway in musicals, occasionally performing in silent films.
