Comilla-8 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) of Bangladesh since 2019 by Nasimul Alam Chowdhury of the Awami League. Boundaries The constituency encompasses Barura Upazila. History The constituency was created for the first general elections in newly independent Bangladesh, held in 1973. Ahead of the 2014 Bangladeshi general election, 2014 general election, the Bangladesh Election Commission, Election Commission reduced the boundaries of the constituency. Previously it had included Comilla Dakshin Municipality and five union parishads of Comilla Sadar Dakshin Upazila: Bara Para, Bijoypur, Chouara, Purba Jorekaran, and Paschim Jorekaran, but had excluded one union parishad of Barura Upazila: Chitadda. Nurul Islam Milon
Nurul Islam Milon ( bn, নূরুল ইসলাম মিলন) is a Bangladeshi politician and the former Member of Parliament from Comilla-8. Early life Milon was born on 20 July 1949. He did his undergraduate, graduate degree, and PhD in physics at the University of Dhaka. Career Milon was elected to Parliament from Comilla-8 as a Jatiya Party candidate in 2014 and ended his term in 2018. Milon lost the re-election from Comilla-8 as a Jatiya Party candidate on 30 December 2018 to Nasimul Alam Chowdhury of Awami League. He had received 1,411 votes and came a distant third while Chowdhury received 188,659 votes. References

2018 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 30 December 2018 to elect 300 directly-elected members of the Jatiya Sangsad. The result was a landslide victory for the Awami League led by Sheikh Hasina. According to political scientist Ali Riaz, the elections were not free and fair. The BBC News reported that they were marred by violence and allegations of vote rigging. He served as the minister of Minister for Shipping, Minister for the Environment and Forests and Minister for Petroleum and Mineral Resources. Biography Hossain was born in Kashari Patty on 18 January 1941, in Comilla District. Military career Hossain joined the army at Kakul Military Academy in Pakistan in May 1966, after his commission, he was posted to the 31 Baluch Regiment. While serving, he studied for his bachelor's at the University of Dhaka, receiving the degree in 1969. Hossain joined the War of Independence in 1971 first under Khaled Musharraf and then with the Z force headed by Ziaur Rahman. He was decorated for gallantry, receiving the 'Bir Protik' for his role in the War. Barura ( bn, বরুড়া) is an Upazila of Comilla District in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh. History Barura Thana was formed in 1948 and turned into an Upazila in 1983. 2008 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 29 December 2008. The two main parties in the election were the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by Khaleda Zia, and the Bangladesh Awami League Party, led by Sheikh Hasina. The Bangladesh Awami League Party formed a fourteen-party Grand Alliance including Ershad's Jatiya Party, while the BNP formed a four-party alliance which included the Islamist party Jamaat-e-Islami. The election was originally scheduled for January 2007, but it was postponed by a military-controlled caretaker government for an extended period of time. The Jatiya Sangsad ( bn, জাতীয় সংসদ, lit=National Parliament, translit=Jatiyô Sôngsôd), often referred to simply as the ''Sangsad'' or JS and also known as the House of the Nation, is the supreme legislative body of Bangladesh. The current parliament of Bangladesh contains 350 seats, including 50 seats reserved exclusively for women. Elected occupants are called Member of Parliament, or MP. 1991 Bangladeshi General Election
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 27 February 1991. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) emerged as the largest party in parliament, winning 140 of the 300 directly-elected seats. The BNP formed a government with the support of the Islamic party Jamaat-e-Islami, and on 20 March Khaleda Zia was sworn in for her first term as Prime Minister.
