Comedy Central Family (Dutch TV Channel)
Comedy Central Family was a television channel broadcasting comedy TV series. It launched in the Netherlands as a joint venture between Viacom International Media Networks and Endemol. It featured both foreign acquisitions and Dutch series from the Endemol libraries. Its launch was originally scheduled for 1 September 2008. It was, however, delayed and the channel eventually launched through cable operator Ziggo on 1 October 2008. On the channel, the Dutch, American, British and Flemish comedy series are aired. Comedy Central Family was available via cable company Ziggo, KPN, Delta and Caiway. Comedy Central Family closed in the Netherlands on 31 May 2018. 576i is a standard-definition television, standard-definition digital video mode, originally used for digitizing analog television in most countries of the world where the utility frequency for electric power distribution is 50 Hz. Because of its close association with the legacy color encoding systems, it is often referred to as PAL, PAL/SECAM or SECAM when compared to its 60 Hz (typically, see PAL-M) NTSC-colour-encoded counterpart, 480i. Standard-definition Television
Standard-definition television (SDTV, SD, often shortened to standard definition) is a television system which uses a resolution that is not considered to be either high or enhanced definition. "Standard" refers to it being the prevailing specification for broadcast (and later, cable) television in the mid- to late-20th century, and compatible with legacy analog broadcast systems. The two common SDTV signal types are 576i, with 576 interlaced lines of resolution, derived from the European-developed PAL and SECAM systems, and 480i based on the American NTSC system. Common SDTV refresh rates are 25, 29.97 and 30 frames per second. Both systems use a 4:3 aspect ratio. Standards that support digital SDTV broadcast include DVB, ATSC, and ISDB. Comedy Central is a Dutch pay television channel based on the American channel of the same name. The channel is available on cable, digital terrestrial, IPTV, and satellite operators in the Netherlands. It broadcasts many imports as well as original programming. There is another Comedy Central-branded channel available in the Netherlands, named ''Comedy Central Extra''. History The Box (1995-2006) The Box was originally a Dutch music channel, which allowed viewers to vote on music videos. Ziggo Holding B.V. () is the largest cable operator in the Netherlands, providing digital cable television, Internet, and telephone service to both residential and commercial customers. History The company is the result of the merger between Multikabel, @Home, and Casema and launched officially on 16 May 2008. In addition, Delta supplies fiber-to-the-home in large parts of the Netherlands. Caiway
Caiway (or simplified as CAIW) is a cable operator in the Netherlands, providing digital cable television, Internet, and telephone service to both residential and commercial customers in mainly the Westland, Twente and Schiedam areas. In addition, Caiway provides its services via the DELTA fiber optic network in large parts of the Netherlands. Caiway began as CAI Westland (Central Antenna Installation Westland) in 1981 and it was the first cable operator to offer internet in the Netherlands, starting in 1995. At the end of 2017, the company was taken over by the Swedish investment fund EQT. EQT was already the owner of cable operator DELTA operating in the province of the Zeeland. Comedy Central Extra is a European pay television channel that launched in the United Kingdom and Ireland in 2003. Followed by the Netherlands in 2011 were it was visible till 31 december 2022. Between 2012 and 2020 it was also available in parts of Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
