''Come Out Come Out'' is the second album by Canadian cuddlecore group cub. Originally released in January 1995 on Mint Records, the album was remastered and re-released with bonus tracks in 2007. The cover art is by Fiona Smyth. The track "New York City" was covered by They Might Be Giants on their 1996 album ''Factory Showroom''. The New York City-based band changed some of the landmarks named in the song for their version as they found the original ones hard to decipher. They Might Be Giants
They Might Be Giants (often abbreviated as TMBG) is an American alternative rock band formed in 1982 by John Flansburgh and John Linnell. During TMBG's early years, Flansburgh and Linnell frequently performed as a duo, often accompanied by a drum machine. In the early 1990s, TMBG expanded to include a backing band. The duo has been credited as vital in the creation and growth of the prolific DIY music scene in Brooklyn in the mid-1980s; the duo's current backing band consists of Marty Beller, Dan Miller and Danny Weinkauf. Lisa Marr is a musician, songwriter, film-maker, photographer, and educator from Vernon, British Columbia, Canada, currently based in Los Angeles, California, and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She has performed as a solo artist and as a member of The Evaporators, The Indecisives, The Bombshells, Cub, Buck, The Beards, The Lisa Marr Experiment, The Here + Now, and Soda & His Million Piece Band. Beat Happening is an American indie pop band formed in Olympia, Washington in 1982. Calvin Johnson, Heather Lewis, and Bret Lunsford have been the band's continual members. Beat Happening were early leaders in the American indie pop and lo-fi movements, noted for their use of primitive recording techniques, disregard for the technical aspects of musicianship, and songs with subject matters of a childish or coy nature. History Formation Beat Happening met while attending The Evergreen State College and began recording in 1983. The band took its name from a student art film, ''Beatnik Happening'', made by Bret's girlfriend. The Go-Go's
The Go-Go's are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1978. "Vacation" is a 1982 single released by the all-female rock band, the Go-Go's. The song was the first single from the album, ''Vacation''. The song became one of the Go-Go's highest charting singles, reaching No. 8 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in August 1982, being the band's second and final US top-10 hit. The song was released on 7" vinyl format, with the surf rock song "Beatnik Beach" as the single's B-side. "Vacation" carries the distinction of being released as the first known cassette single or "cassingle" as trademarked by I.R.S. Records. ''Cash Box'' called it "propulsive power pop." Yoko Ono
Yoko Ono ( ; ja, 小野 洋子, Ono Yōko, usually spelled in katakana ; born February 18, 1933) is a Japanese multimedia artist, singer, songwriter, and peace activist. Her work also encompasses performance art and filmmaking. Ono grew up in Tokyo and moved to New York City in 1953 with her family. She became involved with New York City's downtown artists scene in the early 1960s, which included the Fluxus group, and became well known in 1969 when she married English musician John Lennon of the Beatles. The couple used their honeymoon as a stage for public protests against the Vietnam War. She and Lennon remained married until he was murdered in front of the couple's apartment building, the Dakota, on 8 December 1980. Together they had one son, Sean, who later also became a musician. ''Factory Showroom'' is the sixth studio album by the American rock band They Might Be Giants. It was released in 1996 by Elektra Records. The album reclaims the more diverse and electronic sound of their early work, but differed from previous They Might Be Giants recordings in some ways. ''Factory Showroom'' was their first album to feature a second guitarist, Eric Schermerhorn. ''Factory Showroom'' was tied with ''The Else'' for the fewest tracks on any They Might Be Giants studio album, until ''The Escape Team'' was released, having only 11 tracks. It was also the first album to be produced by Pat Dillett, who would go on to work with the band on all subsequent albums. Cuddlecore
Twee pop is a subgenre of indie pop that originates from the 1986 ''NME'' compilation ''C86''. Characterised by its simplicity and perceived innocence, some of its defining features are boy–girl harmonies, catchy melodies, and lyrics about love. For many years, prominent independent record labels associated with twee pop were Sarah Records (in the UK) and K Records (in the US). Characteristics The definition of twee is something "excessively or affectedly quaint, pretty, or sentimental", supposedly born from a childish mispronunciation of the word sweet. A retrospective fascination with the genre in the US saw Americans eagerly defining themselves as twee. According to ''The A.V.
