Lost In The Former West
''Lost in the Former West'' was the final album released by The Fatima Mansions. Writing for ''Hot Press'', Liam Fay said that it is "both Fatima Mansions’ most accessible and most ambitious release yet. It revisits virtually all the bases that the band has touched during its previous four albums but maintains a cohesion and easy-appeal throughout. More than anything else, it is the sound of a group who feel that their time has finally come." As with ''Viva Dead Ponies'', the song listing as released in the US differed from the UK version, incorporating "Something Bad" and "Go Home Bible Mike" from ''Valhalla Avenue'', while excluding "Sunken Cities". The track " Nite Flights" is a cover of The Walker Brothers song. Stigmata (song)
"Stigmata" is a song by American industrial metal band Ministry. Written by frontman Al Jourgensen, it is the opening track and the only single released from their third studio album, 1988’s ''The Land of Rape and Honey''. The song features distorted vocals, guitars and compressed drum machine loops. The song was an underground hit. The music video—which was said to get a regular airing on MTV—features gritty black and white machinery, gears, symbols, the band playing live, Paul Barker on a motorcycle, strobe-like montages of eyes (which are the only elements presented in color), and what appear to be neo-Nazi skinheads. The song was said to be Ministry's "finest moment until 1992". The track was later featured in the 1990 science fiction horror movie '' Hardware'' and the 1995 Hong Kong action comedy film ''Rumble in the Bronx''. The 2017 action movie ''Atomic Blonde'' (taking place in 1989) features a cover of the song by Marilyn Manson. The 12-inch single remix of the ...

Lady Godiva's Operation
"Lady Godiva's Operation" is a song by the Velvet Underground from their second album, ''White Light/White Heat'' (1968). The lyrics of the first half of the song, sung by John Cale, describe Lady Godiva; the lyrics of the second half, sung by Cale alternating with Lou Reed, are full of oblique, deadpan black humor and describe a botched surgical procedure, implied to be a lobotomy. Cale plays electric viola while Sterling Morrison plays bass, an instrument that he disliked, despite his competent abilities. The song was covered by the Fatima Mansions as a single. In 1973 Lou Reed said of the song “Listen to the lyrics of my early songs, 'Lady Godiva’s Operation’ was about a trans-sexual." The Velvet Underground
The Velvet Underground was an American rock band formed in New York City in 1964. The original line-up consisted of singer/guitarist Lou Reed, multi-instrumentalist John Cale, guitarist Sterling Morrison, and drummer Angus MacLise. MacLise was replaced by Moe Tucker in 1965, who played on most of the band's recordings. Their integration of rock and the avant-garde achieved little commercial success during the group's existence, but they are now recognized as one of the most influential bands in rock, underground, experimental, and alternative music. The group's provocative subject matter, musical experiments, and often nihilistic attitudes also proved influential in the development of punk rock and new wave music. The group performed under several names before settling on the Velvet Underground in 1965, inspired by the book of the same name. In 1966, pop artist Andy Warhol became their manager, and they served as the house band at Warhol's studio, the Factory, and his tra ...

His solo career and reputation peaked in 2021 with the well received album ''Song of Co-Aklan'' (composed from the point of view of his alter ego "Co Aklan") which was released to critical acclaim fifteen years after his previous solo album ''Foburg'' (2006)."There's an Ironic Symmetry there, and I feel pret ...

Lou Reed
Lewis Allan Reed (March 2, 1942October 27, 2013) was an American musician, songwriter, and poet. He was the guitarist, singer, and principal songwriter for the rock band the Velvet Underground and had a solo career that spanned five decades. Although not commercially successful during its existence, the Velvet Underground became regarded as one of the most influential bands in the history of underground and alternative rock music. Reed's distinctive deadpan voice, poetic and transgressive lyrics, and experimental guitar playing were trademarks throughout his long career. Having played guitar and sung in doo-wop groups in high school, Reed studied poetry at Syracuse University under Delmore Schwartz, and had served as a radio DJ, hosting a late-night avant garde music program while at college. After graduating from Syracuse, he went to work for Pickwick Records in New York City, a low-budget record company that specialized in sound-alike recordings, as a songwriter and sess ...
