Colorado Territory (film)
''Colorado Territory'' is a 1949 American Western film noir directed by Raoul Walsh and starring Joel McCrea, Virginia Mayo, and Dorothy Malone. Written by Edmund H. North and John Twist, and based on the novel ''High Sierra'' by W.R. Burnett, the film is about an outlaw who is sprung from jail to help pull one last railroad job. This version is a remake of the 1941 crime film '' High Sierra'' starring Ida Lupino and Humphrey Bogart, also directed by Walsh. The story was remade for a third time in 1955 as '' I Died a Thousand Times'' with Jack Palance and Shelley Winters. Plot Notorious outlaw Wes McQueen (Joel McCrea) breaks out of jail and heads off to the Colorado Territory to meet the man who arranged the escape, his old friend Dave Rickard (Basil Ruysdael). Along the way, the stagecoach he is riding in is attacked by a gang of robbers. Raoul Walsh
Raoul Walsh (born Albert Edward Walsh; March 11, 1887December 31, 1980) was an American film director, actor, founding member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), and the brother of silent screen actor George Walsh. Jack Palance ( ; born Volodymyr Palahniuk ( uk, Володимир Палагню́к); February 18, 1919 – November 10, 2006) was an American actor known for playing tough guys and villains. Rio Grande 315
Denver and Rio Grande Western No. 315 is a class "C-18" "Consolidation" type narrow-gauge steam locomotive that was originally built for the Florence and Cripple Creek Railroad by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1895. It was purchased by the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad (D&RG) in 1917 and later became known as No. 315. It was retired in 1949 and had been on display at two City of Durango parks until thDurango Railroad Historical Societyrestored the locomotive from 2001 to August 2007. It was operational from then until September 2021. As of November 2021 it is receiving its Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) mandated 1,472-day inspection. Harry Woods (actor)
Harry Lewis Woods (May 5, 1889 – December 28, 1968) was an American film actor. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Woods was a millinery salesman prior to becoming an actor. He appeared in nearly 250 films between 1923 and 1958. During his 35-year film career he acquired a reputation as a screen villain ''par excellence''; his imposing size, powerful build, piercing eyes and snarling voice typed him as a bad guy to be reckoned with. He seldom played ordinary henchmen, usually cast as both the brains (the banker or saloon owner who secretly runs the bandit gang terrorizing the area) and the brawn behind the local villainy.
