Colorado Democratic Party
The Colorado Democratic Party is the affiliate of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party in the U.S. state of Colorado. Morgan Carroll serves as its chair. The governing body of the party is the State Central Committee, which consists of the chair and vice chair of the county Democratic Party in each of Colorado's 64 counties and "bonus" members for larger counties. In each odd-numbered year, county parties elect officers in February followed by the state party which elects its officers in March. It is currently the dominant party in the state, controlling both of the state's United States Senate, U.S. Senate seats and all statewide executive offices, including Governor of Colorado, the governorship, as well as supermajorities in both chambers of Colorado General Assembly, the legislature and a majority of its United States House of Representatives, U.S. House districts. Colorado's 1st congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Colorado based primarily in the City and County of Denver in the central part of the state. The district includes all of the City and County of Denver, and the Denver enclaves of Glendale and Holly Hills. The district has been represented by Democrat Diana DeGette since 1997. An urban and diverse district based in the heart of Metropolitan Denver, with a Cook Partisan Voting Index rating of D+29, it is the most Democratic district in the American West not located on the Pacific coast.
