College 1975 F.C. is an association football team from Gibraltar. Originally formed in 1975, they currently play in the Gibraltar Football League. History Formed in 1975, college spent the majority of their existence moving between the top two divisions in Gibraltar, with second and third teams playing elsewhere in the pyramid. During this time, they went through several variations of their name, most notably College Cosmos, before entering into a partnership with the reforming Europa in 2013, bring in extra resources as the Gibraltar Football Association joined UEFA. This saw an immediate upturn in results, and saw College Europa qualify for the UEFA Europa League at the first attempt via the 2014 Rock Cup. However, in 2015 the partnership between the two sides ended, and while the newly independent Europa retained their place in the Gibraltar Premier Division, the Dolphins, now calling themselves College 1975, were forced to start anew in the Gibraltar Second Division. Victoria Stadium (Gibraltar)
Victoria Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Gibraltar. It is currently used mostly for football matches, but also hosts the annual Gibraltar Music Festival. It is located close to Gibraltar Airport just off Winston Churchill Avenue. It was named after the wife of Gibraltarian philanthropist John Mackintosh. Despite initial plans to replace the stadium in the 2010s, the Gibraltar Football Association purchased the stadium from the Government of Gibraltar in April 2017 in order to improve and renovate it. The redevelopment of the stadium is due to start in late 2022, with the national team announcing they will play UEFA and FIFA games in Faro, Portugal. The 2013–14 Gibraltar Premier Division (known as the Argus Insurance Premier Division for sponsorship reasons) is the 115th season of the national amateur football league in Gibraltar since its establishment - the highest level of football in Gibraltar. The league was expanded this season, and will be contested by eight clubs, a requirement for entry into UEFA competitions. 2020 Rock Cup
The 2020 Gibtelecom Rock Cup was a single-leg knockout tournament contested by clubs from Gibraltar. There were thirteen clubs participating in the cup this season. The winner of the competition would have qualified to compete in the 2020–21 Europa League. Europa were the defending champions after defeating Gibraltar United by a score of 3–0 in the previous season's final. On 1 May 2020, the Gibraltar Football Association announced that the domestic football season had been terminated. Gibraltar National League
The Gibraltar Football League is the only senior tier of association football in Gibraltar, founded in 2019 as the Gibraltar National League after a merger of the Gibraltar Premier Division, which served as the top division of football on the Rock since 1905, and the Gibraltar Second Division, which had existed since 1909. It was announced in August 2019 by the Gibraltar Football Association. The league is supported by the Gibraltar Intermediate League for U23 sides and Hound Dogs. The 2019 Gibtelecom Rock Cup was a single-leg knockout tournament contested by clubs from Gibraltar. There were seventeen clubs participating in the cup this season. The final was played on 26 May 2019. The winner of the competition qualified to compete in the 2019–20 Europa League. The 2018–19 Gibraltar Second Division was the sixth season of the second tier football in Gibraltar since the Gibraltar Football Association joined UEFA. The season began on 15 August 2018. After the expulsion of Angels the previous season and withdrawal of Cannons, the league was contested by 7 clubs. This season saw the return of the Second Division Cup after stadium renovations saw the tournament scrapped the previous year. The 2016–17 Gibraltar Second Division season was the fourth since the Gibraltar Football Association joined UEFA. This season the league was contested by 9 clubs. Format Clubs play each other twice for a total of 16 matches each. The Second Division winner was promoted while the second-placed team entered a playoff with the ninth-placed team from the Premier Division. This season also saw the introduction of a Home Grown Player (HPG) rule, requiring clubs to name 3 home grown players in their matchday squads with at least one of them on the field of play at all times. Gibraltar Phoenix were forced to forfeit their first two games after being found in breach of this new rule, with their 4-1 win over Hound Dogs on the opening week being overturned.
