Vasily Borisovich Livanov (russian: link=no, Василий Борисович Ливанов; born 19 July 1935), MBE, is a Soviet and Russian film actor, animation and film director, screenwriter and writer most famous for portraying Sherlock Holmes in the Soviet TV series. Vasily Semyonovich Lanovoy (russian: Василий Семёнович Лановой; (16 January 1934 – 28 January 2021) was a Soviet and Ukrainian Russian actor who worked in the Vakhtangov Theatre, Moscow. He was also known as the President of Artek Festival of Films for Children. Lanovoy's honours include the KGB Prize, the Lenin Prize, and the title of People's Artist of the USSR. In 2019, he received the title of Hero of Labour of the Russian Federation. Acting career Lanovoy came to prominence through playing bold, dashing characters, combining heroic bravado with a sensitivity typical of Russian heroes, a tendency evident in many of his early features, such as ''Certificate of Maturity'' (1954) and '' Pavel Korchagin'' (1956). Tamara Petrovna Syomina (russian: Тамара Петровна Сёмина; born 25 October 1938) is a Soviet/Russian film actress. She appeared in more than forty films since 1959. People's Artist of the RSFSR (1978). Biography Tamara Petrovna Syomina was born on 25 October 1938 in Lgov, Kursk Oblast into a family of a soldier, tank platoon commander Peter Fedorovich Bokhonov. During the Great Patriotic War her father was killed on the front. In 1942 her mother, Tamara Vasilyevna was evacuated with two young children, and later came to grandparents in Bryansk, where Tamara went to school. In 1946 Tamara Vasilyevna married Pyotr Vasilievich Syomin who adopted the children, which led to Tamara bearing his last name. He was named People's Artist of the USSR in 1961 and awarded the USSR State Prize in 1982. Biography Born in Rostov-on-Don (modern-day Rostov Oblast of Russia) as Rostislav Ivanovich Plyat, the future actor was so obsessed with theatre that he decided to "correct" his name at the passport office to make it more euphonious and memorable.
