Colinton is a rural locality in the Somerset Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Colinton had a population of 75 people. Geography Colinton lies within the water catchment area of Emu Creek, a tributary of the Brisbane River. The creek marks a portion of both the southern and western boundary and the Brisbane River is aligned with the eastern boundary. The D'Aguilar Highway passes through the east where the Brisbane Valley railway line also once passed. Benarkin State Forest roughly covers the western third of Colinton. 1974 Flood
In January 1974 a flood occurred in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia after three weeks of continual rain. The Brisbane River, which runs through the heart of the city, broke its banks and flooded the surrounding areas. The cyclone that produced the flood also flooded surrounding cities: City of Ipswich, Ipswich, Beenleigh, and the Gold Coast, Queensland, Gold Coast. Henry Plantagenet Somerset
Henry Plantagenet Somerset (19 May 1852 – 11 April 1936) was a pioneer pastoralist and politician in Queensland, Australia. Somerset was a liberal politician who represented the district of Stanley in the Queensland Legislative Assembly from 1904 to 1920, and canvassed successfully for the extension of the Brisbane Valley railway through the Brisbane River Valley to the rich timber reserves in the Blackbutt Range and beyond. Both the Somerset Dam and the local government area of Somerset Region are named in his honour. Early life H. P. Somerset's family claimed descent from John of Gaunt and Katherine Swynford through the Beaufort line. Toogoolawah ( ) is a rural town and locality in the Somerset Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Toogoolawah had a population of 1,279 people. Geography Toogoolawah is in South East Queensland. Toogoolawah is a centre for gliding and parachuting and in the past the centre of a dairying industry.
