Colin Blades
Colin Francis Blades (born 13 August 1944) is a former West Indian cricketer who played both for Barbados in West Indian domestic cricket and for Bermuda internationally. He captained Bermuda at the 1982 ICC Trophy, where he was also the overall leading run-scorer. Blades was born in Saint Philip Parish, Barbados. He made his first-class debut in February 1964, playing for Barbados against British Guiana. Saint Philip, Barbados
Saint Philip is a parish of Barbados at the easternmost end of the island. Saint Philip’s Parish Church was built as the Anglican parish church in 1640. St. Philip has the largest land area of the 11 parishes of Barbados and has a relatively flat 'close to sea-level' terrain. 1979 ICC Trophy
The 1979 ICC Trophy was a limited overs cricket tournament held in England between 22 May and 21 June 1979. It was the inaugural ICC Trophy tournament to be staged, with matches between the 15 participating teams played over 60 overs a side and with white clothing and red balls. All matches were played in the Midlands. The tournament served as the Cricket World Cup qualification process – the two finalists, Sri Lanka and Canada, qualified to take part in the 1979 World Cup. The World Cup began on 9 June, just three days after Sri Lanka and Canada qualified for it by winning their ICC Trophy semi-finals. The ICC Trophy final was held on 21 June at Worcestershire's ground at New Road, two days before the World Cup final. Sri Lanka won the first ICC Trophy defeating Canada in the final. 1983 Cricket World Cup
The 1983 Cricket World Cup (officially the Prudential Cup '83) was the 3rd edition of the Cricket World Cup tournament. It was held from 9 to 25 June 1983 in England and Wales and was won by India. Eight countries participated in the event. England, India, Pakistan and West Indies qualified for the semi-finals. The preliminary matches were played in two groups of four teams each, and each country played the others in its group twice. The top two teams in each group qualified for the semi-finals. The matches consisted of 60 overs per innings and were played in traditional white clothing and with red balls. They were all played during the day. West Africa Cricket Team
The West African cricket team was a team representing the countries of Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria and Sierra Leone in international cricket whilst they were an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) between 1976 and 2003. They played in the ICC Trophy on three occasions, in 1982, 1994 and 1997, withdrawing shortly before the start of the 2001 tournament. The Canada national cricket team represents Canada in international cricket. The team is organised by Cricket Canada, which became an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1968. The Argentina national cricket team is the team that represents the country of Argentina in international cricket. Winston Trott (born 10 August 1944 in Bermuda) is a former Bermudian cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a left-arm medium-fast bowler. He played one first-class match for Bermuda, against New Zealand in 1972, taking four wickets in New Zealand's only innings. Clarence Parfitt (born 16 July 1944 in Bermuda) is a former Bermudian and Scottish cricketer. He was a left-handed batsman and left-arm medium pace bowler. He is reputed to be the greatest bowler that Bermuda has produced. He started his career in his native Bermuda, playing one first-class match against New Zealand in 1972, taking five wickets in New Zealand's only innings.
