Coalition for Europe ( es, Coalición por Europa, CEU) was a Spanish electoral list in the European Parliament election in 2014 made up from regionalist parties. It was the successor of the 2009 coalition of the same name. As in 2009, Ramon Tremosa was confirmed as the coalition's leading candidate. Ramon Tremosa
Ramon Tremosa i Balcells (Barcelona, 30 June 1965) is a Catalan economist and politician, professor at the Department of Economic Theory at the University of Barcelona, where he obtained his Doctorate about the influence of macroeconomic policy in the Catalan manufacturing industry (1983 - 1995). From 2009 onwards he has been independent MEP for Convergència i Unió and has been re-elected in 2014. He is author of various books and academic articles about monetary politics, fiscal federalism and regional economics. Early life and education Ramon Tremosa was born in Barcelona on the 30th of June in a family originally from Lleida (his father is from Arenys de Noguera, Ribagorça and his Mother from el Poal, Pla d´Urgell). 2014 European Parliament Election In Spain
The 2014 European Parliament election in Spain was held on Sunday, 25 May 2014, as part of the EU-wide election to elect the 8th European Parliament. All 54 seats allocated to Spain as per the Treaty of Lisbon were up for election. The People's Party (PP) emerged as the largest party overall, albeit with its worst nationwide election result in 25 years with a mere 26.1% of the share and 16 seats, losing 2.6 million votes and 8 seats from its 2009 result. The Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) lost 9 seats and 2.5 million votes, obtaining just 23% of the total party vote and 14 seats. Reagrupament or Reagrupament Independentista (''Realignment for Independence'' or ''Independence Rally'') is an association in Catalonia, Spain, formally constituted on 3 October 2009.
