Clásico Regiomontano
Clásico Regiomontano, Clásico Regio, Clásico del Norte or Clásico Norteño is a football derby in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, between crosstown rival teams Monterrey and Tigres. Since the first Clásico in 1974, the two teams have competed over 100 times for bragging rights and city honour. It is known for being one of the most intensely competed derbies in Mexican football, even being regarded by people in the city of Monterrey and Northern Mexico as the most important Mexican derby. The match is the biggest game of the season in Monterrey, and every year, fans wait in line for days outside the stadium just to get tickets, which are often priced at two or three times their regular value. Osmar Donizete Cândido (born 24 October 1968, known as Donizete Pantera, is a Brazilian retired footballer, who played as a forward, and the assistant manager at CFZ do Rio. Luis Miguel Salvador López (born 26 February 1968) is a Mexican former professional footballer who played as a forward. Career Salvador was on Mexico national team at the 1994 FIFA World Cup, playing only 10 minutes during the Republic of Ireland match. El Norte is a daily newspaper printed and distributed in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. History During the decades of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, El Norte gained important successes in exposing corruption in government. Due to its principles of independent journalism, the federal government cut the paper supply required to print the newspaper, so the company had to import it directly. Gerónimo Barbadillo González (born September 29, 1954) is a retired Peruvian footballer. A right winger, he spent his best seasons with Tigres UANL of the Liga MX and was known for his speed, dribbling and goal-scoring ability. He also played for Avellino and Udinese in Serie A. The Estadio BBVA, nicknamed "El Gigante de Acero" (Spanish for "The Steel Giant"), formerly known as the Estadio BBVA Bancomer, is a stadium developed by FEMSA and C.F. Monterrey in Guadalupe, Greater Monterrey. The stadium replaced the Estadio Tecnológico as the home of Monterrey, ending 63 years of residency at that stadium.
