Clutch (band)
Clutch is an American rock band from Germantown, Maryland. Since its formation in 1991, the band line-up has included Tim Sult (lead guitar), Dan Maines (bass), Jean-Paul Gaster (drums), and Neil Fallon (vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards). To date, Clutch has released thirteen studio albums, and several rarities and live albums. Since 2008, the band has been signed to their own record label, Weathermaker Music. History Early years and breakthrough: 1991–2003 Clutch was formed in 1991 by Dan Maines (bass), Jean-Paul Gaster (drums), Tim Sult (guitar), and Roger Smalls (vocals) in Germantown, Maryland. Before settling on the name Clutch, the band used the early names Glut Trip and Moral Minority. Smalls soon departed and was replaced by Neil Fallon, a longtime schoolmate of the other members at Seneca Valley High School. Germantown is an urbanized census-designated place in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. With a population of 91,249 as of 2020 U.S. Decennial Census, Germantown is the third most populous place in Maryland, after the city of Baltimore, and the census-designated place of Columbia. Germantown is located approximately outside the U.S. capital of Washington, D.C. and is an important part of the Washington metropolitan area. Neil Fallon
Neil Fallon (born October 25, 1971) is an American musician, best known as the lead singer and occasional rhythm guitarist and keyboardist for the rock band Clutch. He is also the lead singer for The Company Band and Dunsmuir, and joined The Bakerton Group on guitar starting with their ''El Rojo'' album. WXQR
WXQR-FM (105.5 MHz) is a radio station broadcasting a Regional Mexican format. Originally based in Jacksonville, North Carolina, the station is headquartered in New Bern. History WXQR-FM is one of the oldest rock stations in America. It was known as "The Rock and Roll Animal" from the 1970s until the mid-1990s. The station was once owned by Sidney Popkin, a member of one of the most prominent families in Jacksonville. During the 1980s and 1990s, the station was headquartered on New Bridge Street near downtown Jacksonville, in what was once the Iwo Jima Theater. Because of its location, it was a favorite for decades among Marines stationed at Camp Lejeune. The station operated with 3,000 watts of power, which put them at a competitive disadvantage against its Newport-based rival Z-103, but WXQR had a solid following of loyal listeners. ''Pure Rock Fury'' is the fifth full-length album by American rock band Clutch, released on March 13, 2001, and is the only album release with Atlantic Records. The album liner notes state that it is dedicated to Ronnie True. Album information This album features guest appearances by Scott "Wino" Weinrich (The Obsessed, Saint Vitus, Spirit Caravan), Leslie West (Mountain), and Dan and Joe of Sixty Watt Shaman, highlighting the band's habit of having musical contemporaries play on their albums. The album yielded a minor hit with "Careful with That Mic...", a rap rock parody, which ''CMJ'' complimented for its clever rhymes. ''Jam Room'' is the fourth full-length album by the American rock band Clutch, released in 1999 on the band's own label River Road Records. Album information The initial limited release contained 12 tracks in 1999 and was a European release only to begin with, and had to be an import for their home country United States, but in 2004 it was reissued by Megaforce Records with three additional tracks, "The Drifter", "I Send Pictures", and "Sink 'Em Low" added to the album's song list. The version of "Sink 'Em Low" found on the reissue is the demo version of the same track found on ''Pure Rock Fury,'' which is faster and heavier. The track "One Eye Dollar" was re-recorded in 2007 on the album '' From Beale Street to Oblivion.'' ''The Elephant Riders'' is the third full-length album by the band Clutch, released April 14, 1998 on Columbia Records, the only album Clutch made for the label. Recording and release It was produced by Jack Douglas (whose other credits include The Who, Aerosmith, Blue Öyster Cult, John Lennon, James Gang and Mountain). The band convened in a 100-year-old house in West Virginia which they lodged in while making the album. Prong is an American heavy metal band formed in New York City in 1986. The band is fronted by guitarist/vocalist Tommy Victor, Prong's sole constant member. To date, they have released 12 studio albums (including a covers album), one live album, four EPs, one DVD and one remix album. Prong had two independent releases, '' Primitive Origins'' (1987) and ''Force Fed'' (1989), which attracted the attention of Epic Records, who signed the band in 1989.
