''Cluster Paintings'' are a series of paintings created by Nabil Kanso in 1986–1988. Earth Widening Vault
Earth is the third planet from the Sun and the only astronomical object known to harbor life. Serial Imagery
Serial imagery is the repeating of one image in many variations or forms. It is a central idea in modern and contemporary art. It can take several forms. A portrait can painted in differing hues and backgrounds with subtle changes to the subject as in Van Gogh's L'Arlésienne and Claude Monet's Rouen Cathedral. Another type is where the same subject is painted at different times of day or seasons of the year for example Claude Monet in his Poplars, Haystacks. The same subject may also be rendered in different mediums, and in different poses, thus, the practice of underpainting may be considered a form of serial imagery even if the image is lost in the completed work. Nabil Kanso
Nabil Kanso (1940-2019) was an American painter. Kanso began his career in New York. His works dealt with contemporary, historical and literary themes, and were marked by figurative imagery executed with spontaneous and vigorous handling of the paint and often done on large-scale formats. They reflected movement and tension embodying intense colors and symbolic forms addressing social, political, and war issues. The Vietnam War and the Lebanese Civil War profoundly affected the development and scope of his themes dealing with violence and war. His long-running '' Split of Life'' series encompassed an extensive range of enormous paintings depicting scenes of human brutality and suffering. The term composition means "putting together". It can be thought of as the organization of the elements of art according to the principles of art. Canvas
Canvas is an extremely durable plain-woven fabric used for making sails, tents, marquees, backpacks, shelters, as a support for oil painting and for other items for which sturdiness is required, as well as in such fashion objects as handbags, electronic device cases, and shoes. The Floating Shadows (triptych)
''The Floating Shadows'' is a triptych made by Nabil Kanso in 1986 on the brutality and suffering inflicted during the Lebanese Civil War.
