Clube de Regatas Brasil, commonly referred to as CRB, is a Brazilian professional football club based in Maceió, Alagoas. It competes in the Série B, the second tier of Brazilian football, as well as in the Campeonato Alagoano, the top flight of the Alagoas state football league. Founded on 20 September 1912, its greatest rival is CSA, and it plays in white and red shirts, shorts and socks. History The club was founded on 20 September 1912 by Lafaiete Pacheco, former member of Clube Alagoano de Regatas. He was dissatisfied with the precarious conditions of his former club. Aroldo Cardoso Zagallo, father of Mário Jorge Lobo Zagallo, worked at the club in 1913 as the football department boss. Four years later, in 1916, CRB bought an estate in Pajuçara neighborhood and built its football field where is now Severiano Gomes Stadium. 2013 Campeonato Alagoano
The 2013 Campeonato Alagoano de Futebol was the 83rd season of Alagoas's top professional football league. The competition began on January 12 and ended on May 19. CRB were the champions for the 27th time. Sport Atalaia and União were relegated. Format In the first stage consists of a double round-robin format. The four teams who place the highest will qualify for the "Hexagonal". CRB and ASA are directly qualified for the "Hexagonal" as Copa do Nordeste participants. The best four teams of the "Hexagonal" advance to the playoffs. The worst four teams from the first stage will play in the Torneio da Morte, a relegation round where the two worst teams in this round will be relegated. Welington Pereira Rodrigues (born 4 January 1986), commonly known as Gum, is a Brazilian footballer who plays for CRB as a central defender. He spent nine years with Fluminense, making 414 total appearances and scoring 28 goals, while winning the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A in 2010 and 2012. Club career Marília Born in São Paulo, Gum was a Marília youth graduate. He made his first team debut in 2005, with the side in Série B, and also had an unassuming loan spell at Osvaldo Cruz back in 2004. On 13 September 2006 Gum was loaned to Série A club Internacional, until July. The following March, after making no league appearances, he rescinded his contract and returned to ''MAC''. Gilvan Souza Correa (born 10 November 1989), simply known as Gilvan, is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a central defender for CRB. Club career Born in Salgado, Gilvan made his professional debut with fourth tier Iraty Sport Club in 2010, before moving to Londrina Esporte Clube of the same tier two years later. On 19 May 2014, he signed for Associação Atlética Ponte Preta of the second tier on a loan deal. After having ended the season winning promotion to the first tier, Gilvan chose to stay back in the second, and signed a one-year loan deal with Ceará Sporting Club on 9 January 2015. Campeonato Brasileiro Série C
The Campeonato Brasileiro Série C is the third tier of the Brazilian football league system. Unlike the first and second divisions, the Série C is not played in a double round robin system, arguably because many participating teams lack the financial conditions to travel long distances. Thus, the tournament is organized in regional groups and the table prevents teams from distant states from playing each other in the initial rounds. Until 2008, any professional team could apply, but only 64 teams would take part in the tournament. The teams that had been relegated from the Série B in the previous year were joined by teams qualified for each federation state. Qualification rules varied, some federations used the state tournaments as qualification tournaments, others organized exclusive qualification tournaments to the Série C.
