Club Atlético Ferrocarril Midland is an Argentine football club based in the Libertad district of Merlo Partido, in the Greater Buenos Aires. The team currently plays in Primera C, the fourth division of Argentine football league system. The club was founded on June 28, 1914 by workers of the Buenos Aires Midland Railway with the objective to participate in some sports and other social activities. In 1929 the club was divided into two divisions: "Club Midland" and "Club Atlético Libertad", but they were reunited in 1933. Midland competed in the regional divisions until 1960 when the club gained its affiliation to the Argentine Football Association. Libertad is a city located in Merlo Partido, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. It forms part of the Greater Buenos Aires urban conurbation. Primera B Metropolitana is one of two professional leagues that form the third level of the Argentine football league system. The division is made up of 17 clubs mainly from the city of Buenos Aires and its metropolitan area, Greater Buenos Aires. Originally created as the second division, it became the third level after a restructuring of the system in 1985 that ended with the creation of Primera B Nacional, set as the second division since then. The Primera D is one of two leagues that form the fifth division of the Argentine football league system. Merlo Partido
Merlo is a '' partido'' of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. It is located in Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina, west of the city of Buenos Aires. Its capital is the city of Merlo. The region of the present-day partido was colonized shortly after the second, and permanent founding of Buenos Aires (1580). In 1730 an interim parish was founded near the estancia (landholding) of Francisco de Merlo. In 1755 Merlo founded the town of Villa San Antonio del Camino, which was renamed later in his honour. Buenos Aires Midland Railway
The Buenos Aires Midland Railway (BAM) was a British-owned railway company which operated in Argentina, where it was known as Ferrocarril Midland de Buenos Aires. The company built and operated the gauge ( metre gauge) line between Puente Alsina and Carhué in Buenos Aires Province. In 1948, the railways of Argentina were nationalised, the BAM becoming part of Belgrano Sur Line; the company closed as a result.
