Club Atlético River Plate (Montevideo)
Club Atlético River Plate is a Uruguayan football club based in Montevideo. The club currently plays in the Primera División, the top level of the Uruguayan football league system. This is not the same River Plate F.C. that won the Uruguayan league in the early 20th century. History River Plate de Montevideo is the result of the merger of former clubs Olimpia and Capurro. After its foundation on 11 May 1932, one of the first objectives reached was the settlement of a new football pitch. The managers decided to establish the "Olimpia Park" (today called Estadio Saroldi) as its home stadium. The name of the stadium was settled in honour of River's first goalkeeper, Federico Omar Saroldi, who died after playing a match against Central Español from an injury suffered during the game. Estadio Saroldi
Estadio Saroldi (full name: Parque Federico Omar Saroldi) is a multi-use stadium in Montevideo, Uruguay. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches. The stadium holds 6,000 all seated. Originally, the stadium was named as "Olimpia Park", as it served as home to C. A. Olimpia, Olimpia. After Club Atlético River Plate (Uruguay), River Plate's goalkeeper Federico Omar Saroldi was fatally injured, during a match between his team and Central Español, the stadium starting to hold goalkeeper's name. Julio César Dely Valdés (born March 12, 1967) is a Panamanian former professional footballer who played as a striker. He is a twin brother of Jorge Dely Valdés and younger brother of Armando Dely Valdés. Club career Born in Colón, Dely Valdés began his professional career in 1987 in Argentina with Deportivo Paraguayo of Argentina (after trying up to get in the Argentinos Juniors' Squad), where he scored 28 goals. Danubio Fútbol Club is a Uruguayan football club based in Jardines del Hipódromo, Montevideo that currently plays in the Uruguayan Primera División. Founded in 1932, the club's home stadium is Jardines del Hipódromo, which has a capacity of 18,000. History Danubio was founded by the Bulgarian-born brothers Mihail (Miguel) and Ivan (Juan) Lazaroff on 1 March 1932 together with other youths from the "Republica de Nicaragua" school in Montevideo. The club's name is a reference to the Danube river, the second-longest river in Europe. It was proposed by Mihail and Ivan's mother, María Mincheff de Lazaroff. Club Atlético Peñarol (; English: ''Peñarol Athletic Club'') —also known as ''Carboneros'', ''Aurinegros,'' and (familiarly) ''Manyas''— is a Uruguayan sports club from Montevideo. Bruno Montelongo Gesta (born 12 September 1987) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a right-back. Club career Montelongo started his professional career with River Plate Montevideo, playing with their first team since 2007.
