Clive Doucet
Clive Doucet (born 1946) is a Canadian writer and politician. He served as the Ottawa City Councillor for Capital Ward from 1997 to 2010 and ran unsuccessfully for Mayor of Ottawa in the 2010 Ottawa municipal election, finishing third with 15 per cent of the vote. Eight years later, he again ran unsuccessfully for Mayor of Ottawa, this time finishing second with 22 per cent of the vote. Early life Doucet was born in 1946 in London, England to an Acadian serviceman from Grand Étang and an English war bride. Doucet grew up in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, having moved there at the age of six. He also spent some of his youth in St. John's, Newfoundland. Doucet was raised as a Catholic, and his mother was Protestant. He became a Quaker in 1980. He first came to Ottawa in his teens when his father worked there. The ''Ottawa Citizen'' is an English-language daily newspaper owned by Postmedia Network in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. History Established as ''The Bytown Packet'' in 1845 by William Harris (journalist), William Harris, it was renamed the ''Citizen'' in 1851. Larry O'Brien (Canadian Politician)
Lawrence Robert O'Brien (born July 19, 1949) is a Canadian businessman and politician. O'Brien served as the 58th mayor of Ottawa from 2006 until 2010. O'Brien was the founder and former Chair and CEO of Calian Technologies Ltd. O'Brien attended Elmdale Public School and Fisher Park High School, and graduated from Merivale High School in 1968. He studied at Algonquin College and graduated with a diploma in Technology in 1972. After graduating, O'Brien worked in the high technology sector, where he met Terry Matthews and Michael Cowpland. He then joined Microsystems International Ltd. In 1975 he worked for the Communications Research Centre and Motorola Communications. O'Brien then launched his first company, Insta-Call Ltd., which went bankrupt in 1979. Trillium Line
The Trillium Line (french: Ligne Trillium), also called O-Train Line 2 (french: Ligne 2 de l'O-Train), is a diesel light rail transit (DLRT) service in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, operated by OC Transpo. The line has been closed since May 2020 for service expansion. Part of the O-Train light rail system, the line runs north–south for between Bayview and Greenboro. The line is a single track, with three passing sidings on dedicated rights-of-way shared with Ottawa Central freight trains south of Walkley Yard, which occasionally serve the National Research Council of Canada's Automotive and Surface Transportation Research Centre. O-Train
The O-Train is a light metro transit system in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, operated by OC Transpo. The O-Train system has two lines, the electrically-operated Confederation Line (Line 1) and the diesel-operated Trillium Line (Line 2). Since May 2020, Stage 2 construction has temporarily shut down Line 2, with replacement bus service being offered at all stations. When Line 2 reopens in mid-2023, it will extend southward to Limebank station and incorporate five newly constructed stations, as well as an additional line ( Line 4) linking Line 2 to Ottawa International Airport which will replace the current bus service from route 97. By 2025, expansions along Line 1 and the construction of Line 3 stations in the west end are expected to be complete, bringing the system's length to , four lines and 41 stations. Heron Park is a neighbourhood in Capital Ward in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Its boundaries are the Rideau River to the north, the Sawmill Creek to the west, Bank Street to the east and Walkley Road to the south. The neighbourhood is divided by Heron Road but is considered all one neighbourhood. The neighbourhood is sometimes called Billings Bridge, due to its proximity to the bridge, which is the site of a former village and the Billings Bridge Shopping Centre. Founded in 1942 as Carleton College, the institution originally operated as a private, non-denominational evening college to serve returning World War II veterans. Riverview (also known as Riverview Park) is a neighbourhood in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is southeast of the downtown adjacent to the Rideau River, its location on which is its namesake. Old Ottawa East
Old Ottawa East or just Ottawa East (''Vieil Ottawa Est'' in French) is a neighbourhood in Capital Ward in central Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located south of Nicholas Street and between the Rideau Canal and the Rideau River, with Avenue Road marking the southern border. To the south is the neighbourhood of Old Ottawa South and to the northeast is Sandy Hill. Old Ottawa East includes the Lees Avenue area. The Flora Footbridge, which opened to pedestrians in 2019, connects the community to The Glebe. According to the Canada 2011 Census, the population of the neighbourhood was 7,279. This small neighbourhood was originally the suburban community of Archville that was incorporated as the village of Ottawa East in 1888.
