Bronson is a city in Bourbon County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 304. History Bronson was founded in the 1880s. The first store and post office opened in September 1881. The city was formerly named Wilsonville, but it was later renamed after Ira Bronson, a Fort Scott attorney. Bronson was moved to its current location when the Missouri Pacific Railroad bypassed the original town site. Midway between Fort Scott and Iola on the highway and railroad, it became a prime shipping and supply point for the agricultural region. Growth was slow but steady. From a handful of residents in 1885, by the 1910 Census Bronson had 595 residents. In 1912 it had two banks, an international money-order post office with four rural routes, express and telegraph offices, telephone connections, the semi-weekly ''Bronson Pilot'' newspaper, a downtown retail district and public schools. Bronson is situated on U.S. Highway 12 about southwest of Coldwater. The ZIP code is 49028 and the FIPS place code is 10860. The city is located within Bronson Township, though it is administratively autonomous. History A post office was established here under the name of Bronson's Prairie in 1830, with Jabez B. Bronson as post master. When the village was started it was first named York, but was renamed to Bronson by the Michigan legislature in 1837. After leaving their native Somerset, the band moved to London where they were discovered by Laurence Bell, boss of Domino Records. The band were playing in Bell's local bar, "The Cat's Back" in Putney. The band released their debut album ''Fur'' in 2004. ''Fur'' was produced by Jamie "Hotel" Hince of The Kills. The band released their second album, '' Derdang Derdang'' on 3 April 2006. The album was recorded in Nashville in the summer of 2005 and produced by Jacquire King. ''Bronson'' is a 2008 British biographical film directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, based on a script written by Refn and Brock Norman Brock. The film stars Tom Hardy as Michael Peterson, known from 1987 as Charles Bronson. The film follows the life of this prisoner, considered Britain's most violent criminal, who has been responsible for a dozen or so cases of hostage taking while incarcerated. He was given the name Charles Bronson by his fight promoter, for his bare-knuckle fighting years. Born into a respectable middle-class family, Peterson became known as one of the United Kingdom's most dangerous prisoners.
