Clifford (character)
Clifford is the title character and the main protagonist of the ''Clifford the Big Red Dog'' book series, written by Norman Bridwell and originally published in 1963, and the television series of the same name. ''Clifford the Big Red Dog'' is based on the book series and ran on PBS Kids during the early 2000s. He is the official mascot of the Scholastic Corporation. Concept and creation Clifford is based on and inspired by Norman Bridwell's childhood desire for a dog the size of a horse. In 1962, Bridwell included paintings of Clifford, then named 'Tiny,' in a portfolio of children's book illustrations. In the process of showing this portfolio to publishing houses, Susan Hirschman at Harper & Row suggested to Bridwell that he turn his drawings into a story for children. ''Clifford the Big Red Dog'' is an American children's book series about the adventures of a precocious girl named Emily Elizabeth and her titular pet: a giant, red-furred dog named Clifford. The Bull Terrier is a breed of dog in the terrier family. There is also a miniature version of this breed which is officially known as the Miniature Bull Terrier. Appearance The Bull Terrier's most recognizable feature is its head, described as 'egg-shaped head', when viewed from the front; the top of the skull is almost flat. Clifford The Big Red Dog (2019 TV Series)
''Clifford the Big Red Dog'' is an animated children's television series which is a reboot to the book series of the same name written by Norman Bridwell, and the 2000 original series created by Deborah Forte and produced by Mike Young Productions, and is the third series in the franchise after the prequel spin-off ''Clifford's Puppy Days,'' which was also produced by Mike Young Productions. In addition to being a reboot, it is also a sequel, because PBS lists it as being the third season. Clifford is voiced by Adam Sanders, replacing John Ritter in the role since the latter's death in 2003. It was released on December 6, 2019, on Amazon Prime Video, and premiered a day later on PBS Kids. Unlike the original TV series, the reboot has not yet aired in the UK, and it is unknown whether or not it will be dubbed for the British audiences if it ever premieres in the UK. ''Clifford's Puppy Days'' is an animated children's television series that originally aired on PBS Kids from September 1, 2003 to February 25, 2006. The prequel to the 2000–2003 series ''Clifford the Big Red Dog'', it features the adventures of Clifford during his puppy days before he became a big red dog and before moving to Birdwell Island.
