Cliff Johnson (game Designer)
Cliff Johnson (born 1953) is an American game designer, best known for the puzzle video games '' The Fool's Errand'' (1987) and '' 3 in Three'' (1990). Both games use visual puzzles and a metapuzzle structure. Both won ''GAMES Magazine''s Best Puzzle Game of the Year. Biography Johnson was born August 14, 1953 in Hanover, New Hampshire, the only child of Norman and Leatrice Johnson. He attended Bristol Eastern High School in Connecticut, where he started making Super 8 movies. In 1972, he had jobs "building monsters" for five different amusement parks. He later attended University of Southern California's film school, where he became a teaching assistant in animation and created some of the Monty Pythonesque animations for Nickelodeon's television series '' Out of Control''. ''MacUser'' was a monthly (formerly biweekly) computer magazine published by Dennis Publishing Ltd. and licensed by Felden in the UK. It ceased publication in 2015. In 1985 Felix Dennis’ Dennis Publishing, the creators of MacUser in the UK, licensed the name and “mouse-rating” symbol for MacUser to Ziff-Davis Publishing for use in the rest of the world. At The Carnival
''At The Carnival'' is a puzzle video game by Cliff Johnson published in 1989 by Miles Computing. It was intended to be the first of a series of games called ''Puzzle Gallery'', but Miles Computing went out of business before any further games could be made. ''At The Carnival'' is a collection of games similar to some in ''The Fool's Errand'', but with enhanced user interfaces. The endgame puzzle is simpler compared to Fool's Errand and ''3 in Three'', consisting merely of a crossword puzzle filled by key words found in other solved puzzles. Plot The game has no overarching story as such; each puzzle shows a small section of ''Hazard Park'', an amusement park with woeful disdain for its customers. Completing the puzzles in a particular section displays the fate of the unfortunate guests at a given ride, attraction, or location for that particular section.
