''Clerks'' is a 1994 American black and white, black-and-white buddy comedy film written and directed by Kevin Smith (in his List of directorial debuts, feature directorial debut), produced and edited by Smith and Scott Mosier, and starring Brian O'Halloran, Jeff Anderson, Marilyn Ghigliotti, Lisa Spoonhauer, Jason Mewes, Smith, and Mosier. It presents a day in the lives of store clerks List of View Askewniverse characters#Dante Hicks, Dante Hicks (O'Halloran) and List of View Askewniverse characters#Randal Graves, Randal Graves (Anderson) as well as their acquaintances. Kevin Patrick Smith (born August 2, 1970) is an American filmmaker, actor, comedian, comic book writer, author, YouTuber, and podcaster. Walt Flanagan
Walter Flanagan (born October 23, 1967) is a former comic book store manager, reality television personality, podcaster, and comic book artist. Flanagan is a long-time friend of Kevin Smith, and (according to Smith's book ''Silent Bob Speaks'') it was Flanagan who turned Smith on to comic books. He formerly managed Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash in Red Bank, New Jersey. Flanagan was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, grew up in nearby Highlands, New Jersey, Highlands and attended Henry Hudson Regional High School with Smith.
