Clementi Town Secondary School
Clementi Town Secondary School (CTSS) is a government secondary school located in Clementi, Singapore, founded in the 1980s. History The school was officially opened on 22 July 1982 by the then-Member for Parliament of Clementi Bernard Chen Tien Lap. In 1984, in order to prevent students loitering in public places, the school's prefects, in cooperation with the Students' Care Service, set up a location for students to relax and study after school hours. This centre was the first of its kind in secondary schools in Singapore. Clementi, Singapore
Clementi (, ;) is a planning area and residential town located at the easternmost fringe of the West Region of Singapore. The town borders Bukit Batok to the north, Bukit Timah to the northeast, Queenstown to the east and Jurong East to the west. Etymology "Clementi" derives its name from 'Clementi Road', the main traffic route that still runs into the district to this day. It was once known as 'Reformatory Road' as there was a boys' home situated along the road. In 1947, the Singapore Rural Board discussed renaming the road. Their original intention was to name it after Sir Hugh Clifford, but it was eventually named as Clementi Road. It is generally suggested that the road was named after Sir Cecil Clementi Smith, who was the first British High Commissioner in the Straits Settlements. Joi Chua
Joi Chua (, born 3 August 1978) is a Singaporean female pop singer. Her most famous songs are "Waiting for a Sunny Day" (《等一个晴天》), "Watching the Sunrise With Me" (《陪我看日出》), the Chinese version of "Nada Soso" and "Wind Chimes" (《风铃》). She is also well known in Mainland China and Taiwan. Early life Chua was educated at Raffles Girls' Primary School, Clementi Town Secondary School, and Singapore Polytechnic majoring in optometry. He gained nationwide recognition after emerging as the second runner up in Channel U's Project SuperStar in 2005.
