Clem Spillane Field
Clem Spillane Field is a baseball and American football, football venue in Wareham, Massachusetts, home to the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL). Wareham High School is located to the southeast of the field. Spillane Field is named for longtime Wareham High teacher and coach Clement S. Spillane. A graduate of Oliver Ames High School in Easton, Massachusetts, Spillane came to Wareham in 1947 and coached football, basketball and baseball. In 13 years at Wareham, Spillane's teams never posted a losing record, and claimed multiple league and regional titles. Spillane is enshrined in the Massachusetts coaches' halls of fame for each of the three sports he coached. The field is a multipurpose facility, used for both baseball and football. Wareham Gatemen
The Wareham Gatemen are a collegiate summer baseball team based in Wareham, Massachusetts. The team is a member of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) and plays in the league's West Division. The Gatemen play their home games at Clem Spillane Field in Wareham. The Gatemen most recently won the CCBL championship in 2018 when they defeated the Chatham Anglers two games to none to win the best of three championship series. The title was the eighth in team history, including back-to-back championships in 2001–2002. The team is led by field manager Harvey Shapiro. Wareham ( ) is a town in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States. As of the 2020 census, the town had a population of 23,303. History Wareham was first settled in 1678 by Europeans as part of the towns of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Plymouth and Rochester, Massachusetts, Rochester. The Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL or Cape League) is a collegiate summer baseball wooden bat league located on Cape Cod in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. One of the nation's premier collegiate summer leagues, the league boasts over one thousand former players who have gone on to play in the major leagues. Wareham High School
Wareham High School is a public high school located in Wareham, Massachusetts, United States. The school is a part of the Wareham Public School System, and serves roughly 500 students in grades 812. Wareham High School's colors are Blue, Gold & White, and their mascot is the Vikings. Enrichment activities There are over 25 clubs and activities students can become involved in, and the school is known for its award-winning DECA organization, marching band and drama program. The band may be small but is mighty and energetic. They have entertained the fans at football games for years with popular stand tunes and half time shows. Oliver Ames High School is a public high school in Easton, Massachusetts, United States. The school currently enrolls approximately 1200 students in grades 9 through 12 and is named after Oliver Ames, who was the 35th governor of Massachusetts. Easton is a town in Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 25,058 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Greater Boston area. Easton is governed by an elected Select Board. The Under Armour High School All-America Baseball Game is a high school baseball all-star game held annually to spotlight the United States' top high school players who are juniors or seniors. The game is played in late July or August, at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
