Clawdd Poncen is a village in Denbighshire, Wales, UK, approximately northwest of Corwen, on the opposite bank of the River Dee. The community population taken at the 2011 census was 300. Geography Generally considered an outer suburb of nearby Corwen, the village is a mix of residential and industrial properties. The Ty'n y Llidiart industrial estate to the north of the village is home to the worldwide headquarters of Ifor Williams Trailers, a major manufacturer of trailers and horseboxes. Clwyd South ( cy, De Clwyd) is a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (Westminster). The constituency was created in 1997, and it elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post method of election. The Clwyd South Senedd constituency was created with the same boundaries in 1999 (as an Assembly constituency). Boundaries The constituency straddles the authorities of Denbighshire and the borough of Wrexham. Corwen is a town and community in the county of Denbighshire in Wales. Historically, Corwen is part of the county of Merionethshire. Corwen stands on the banks of the River Dee beneath the Berwyn mountains. The town is situated west of Llangollen and south of Ruthin. Clwyd () is a preserved county of Wales, situated in the north-east corner of the country; it is named after the River Clwyd, which runs through the area. Ifor Williams Trailers is the United Kingdom's largest manufacturer of trailers under , based in Corwen, Denbighshire, North Wales. History Started in 1958 by local farmer Ifor Williams, an on-site galvanizing plant gives the company total control over quality and efficiency in the production of chassis and other assemblies. The company employs approximately 800 people across six sites in Clawdd Poncen, Cynwyd, Ruthin, Deeside and Sandycroft, Flintshire. During the Great Recession, 63 employees were made redundant in late 2008. Production was affected by fire on two occasions.
