''Claudia'' (also known as ''Claudia, the Story of a Marriage'') is an American television program that was broadcast live on NBC January 6, 1952 - March 23, 1952 and on CBS March 31, 1952 - June 30, 1952. The Sitcom, situation comedy was based on Rose Franken, Rose Franken's short stories and novels about a young woman's romance. Premise At age 18, Claudia (American literary character), Claudia Brown, a somewhat naive teenage girl, married David Naughton, an architect. Adapted from the radio series ''Claudia and David (radio program), Claudia and David'', episodes focused on their lives, especially Claudia's struggles as she adjusted to married life. The concept was also adapted into the Broadway play ''Claudia (play), Claudia'' (1941) and the films ''Claudia (1943 film), Claudia'' (1943) and ''Claudia and David'' (1946). Hugh Reilly (October 30, 1915 – July 17, 1998) was an American actor who performed on the Broadway stage, in films, and on television. He is best remembered for co-starring from 1958 to 1964 as the father, Paul Martin, in the CBS television series, '' Lassie''. Early years and career Born on October 30, 1915, in Newark, New Jersey, Reilly saw service in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and pursued a theater career following the war. His Broadway credits included ''Fair Game'' (1957), ''Dear Charles'' (1954), ''Never Say Never'' (1951), ''Second Threshold'' (1950), and ''The Curious Savage'' (1950). Wolfgang Zilzer
Wolfgang Zilzer (January 20, 1901 – June 26, 1991) was a German-American stage and film actor, often under the stage name Paul Andor. Biography Zilzer was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to German-Jewish emigrant Max Zilzer, who was employed at the local theater. Zilzer's mother died soon after his birth, and his father returned to Germany in 1905. Zilzer appeared on stage in child roles and made his first movie appearance in the age of 14. Around 1930, he moved back to the United States, but had only small success as an actor. He returned to Germany. According to a 1943 Jewish Telegraphic Agency newspaper article, he "was a featured player of UFA in the palmy days before the Furore itler, but after Adolf Hitler's rise to power, Zilzer fled to France, where he worked dubbing voices in several French versions of Hollywood productions. Margaret De Wolfe Wycherly (born Margaret De Wolfe, 26 October 1881 – 6 June 1956) was an English stage and film actress. She spent many years in the United States and is best remembered for her Broadway roles and Hollywood character parts. On screen she played mother to Gary Cooper ('' Sergeant York'') and James Cagney (''White Heat''). Joan Hume McCracken (December 31, 1917 – November 1, 1961) was an American dancer and actress who became famous for her role as Sylvie ("The Girl Who Falls Down") in the original 1943 production of ''Oklahoma!'' She also was noted for her performances in the Broadway shows ''Bloomer Girl'' (1944), ''Billion Dollar Baby'' (1945) and ''Dance Me a Song'' (1950), and the films ''Hollywood Canteen'' (1945) and '' Good News'' (1947). A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. ''Claudia'' is a 1943 American comedy-drama film directed by Edmund Goulding, and written by Morrie Ryskind. The film stars Dorothy McGuire, Robert Young, Ina Claire, Reginald Gardiner, Olga Baclanova, and Jean Howard. The film was released on November 4, 1943, by 20th Century Fox.
