Claude Roux
Claude Roux is a French lichenologist, mycologist and Esperantist. He has co-authored books about the identification of lichens written in Esperanto. Career Between 1969 and 1975 Roux was employed as a biology and geology teacher in a secondary school. From 1975 he worked at the Botany Laboratory of the CNRS Mediterranean Institute of Ecology and Paleoecology in Marseille, studying systematics, morphology and reproduction of lichens. He retired in 2005 but continues scientific research as a honorary CNRS researcher. He has been president of the French Institute of Esperanto. Ferdinand Joseph Georges Alexandre Clauzade
Ferdinand Joseph Georges Alexandre Clauzade (2 September 1914 – 10 July 2002) was a French botanist and lichenologist. His specialty was the lichen flora of France and the Mediterranean region. Biography Georges Clauzade was born in Marseille, France, on 2 September 1914. After obtaining his baccalaureate from , he studied at the Faculty of Sciences in Aix-Marseille University. He obtained a bachelor's degree in natural sciences and a master's degree in geology. After passing the final teacher's examination (), he was admitted in 1937 to the faculty of natural sciences. He became a professor of natural sciences at the Lycée d'Amiens from 1936 to 1939, then in Marseille until 1947. From 1947 to 1966, he taught at the Lycée d'Apt. Cécile Gueidan
Cécile Gueidan is a mycologist and lichenologist who applies morphological and molecular biological methods to the origin and taxonomy of fungi that live in lichen symbioses and within rocks. Early life and education Gueidan began working on lichens during her Maitrise (1998) and DEA (1999) qualifications from Université Louis Pasteur and National Museum of Natural History, France. This included practical fieldwork experience with Claude Roux. She then studied molecular methods for lichen taxonomy at Duke University, USA and applied them to pyrenocarpous and Verrucariaceae lichens. Through combining morphological and molecular characters, she was able to refine the taxonomy of these groups. She was awarded her doctorate for this research in 2007. Career Her research focuses on the evolution and taxonomy of lichenised fungi and other ascomycete fungi. International Academy Of Sciences San Marino
The International Academy of Sciences San Marino ( eo, Akademio Internacia de la Sciencoj San Marino, AIS) was a scientific association. It was established in 1983 and had its first convention, SUS 1, around New Year 1984 in the City of San Marino. After the Sammarinese skeleton law on higher education had been passed the academy was officially founded on 13 September 1985, in the presence of the Captains-Regent. Its name uses the constructed international auxiliary language Esperanto. The association was dissolved at the end of 2020. History The AIS was founded on an initiative of scientists from various countries, such as Helmar Frank, Humphrey Tonkin, and Reinhard Selten.
