Claude Morin (Beauce Politician)
Claude Morin (born August 10, 1953 in Saint-Gédéon-de-Beauce, Quebec) is a politician from Quebec, Canada. He was elected as mayor of Saint-Georges, Quebec in the 2013 Quebec municipal elections. Previously, he was an Action démocratique du Québec Member of the National Assembly for the electoral district of Beauce-Sud from 2007 to 2008. Morin has a bachelor's degree in social sciences from the University of Ottawa. Before his election, he worked within the Canadian Forces for over 15 years in Lille, France, Quebec and Chilliwack, British Columbia as an officer and director. He also worked at the Canadian Department of National Defense as the human resources director and at the NATO offices in Naples as a director for transportation. He was also a financial adviser for three years. Morin was elected in the 2007 Quebec election with 57% of the vote. Liberal incumbent Diane Leblanc finished second with 30% of the vote. Saint-Gédéon-de-Beauce is a municipality in the Beauce-Sartigan Regional County Municipality in Quebec, Canada. It is part of the Chaudière-Appalaches region and the population is 2,093 as of 2021. It is named after biblical judge Gideon. The municipality was created in February 2003 after the merging of the parish municipality of Saint-Gédéon and the municipality of Saint-Gédéon-de-Beauce. The two had split in 1950. Saint-Gédéon-de-Beauce is a site of Canam, one of the largest steel joist factories in Canada. Guy Lelièvre
Guy Lelièvre (March 20, 1952 – March 29, 2021) was a Quebec politician and lawyer. He was the Member of National Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Gaspé. He represented the Parti Québécois from 1994 to 2008. Lelièvre went to the Université du Québec à Montréal and obtained a bachelor's degree in juridical sciences in 1977 and was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 1979, where he practiced law for 15 years. He was also an administration member of several regional associations in the Gaspé region which promote development. He was also an active member of the Parti Québécois since 1990 and was a member of the NO coalition of Charlottetown Accord in 1992. Beauce is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1867. In 2006, it had a population of 103,617 people, of whom 82,123 were eligible voters. The Beauce riding has the highest percentage of people who answered "Canadian" as their ethnic origin in the 2006 Census (84.0%; multiple responses). It is also the riding with the highest percentage of Whites of European descent (99.3%).
