Clark Kent (DC Extended Universe)
Clark Joseph Kent (né Kal-El), best known by his superhero persona Superman, is a superhero in the DC Extended Universe series of films, based on the DC Comics Superman, character of the same name created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. In the films, he is a refugee from the planet Krypton (comics), Krypton who lands on Earth and develops superhuman abilities. A lengthy conflict with a faction of surviving Kryptonians led by General Zod (DC Extended Universe), General Zod results in extensive damage to Metropolis (comics), Metropolis, creates a moral divide amongst humanity, and draws the attention of Bruce Wayne (DC Extended Universe), Bruce Wayne / Batman, who would confront Kent for his actions. The two would eventually reconcile their differences to prevent Doomsday (DC Comics), Doomsday, with the latter giving his life to kill the creature with the assistance of Wayne. The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) is an American media franchise and shared universe centered on a series of superhero films and television series produced by DC Studios and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It is based on characters that appear in American comic books published by DC Comics. The DCEU also includes comic books, short films, novels, and video games. Like the original DC Universe in comic books, the DCEU was established by crossing over common plot elements, settings, cast, and characters. Warner Bros. had plans to bring various DC Comics superheroes together in films since 2002, when Wolfgang Petersen was set to direct a crossover of the ''Superman'' and ''Batman'' film franchises.
