Clark Kent (DC Extended Universe)
Clark Joseph Kent, best known by his superhero persona Superman, is a superhero in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) series of films, based on the DC Comics Superman, character of the same name created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. In the films, he is a survivor from the destroyed planet Krypton (comics), Krypton who lands on Earth and develops superhuman abilities due to environmental differences between the planets and their respective star systems. DC Extended Universe
The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) is an American media franchise and shared universe centered on a series of superhero films distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It is based on characters that appear in American comic books published by DC Comics. The DCEU also includes comic books, short films, novels, and video games. Like the original DC Universe in comic books, the DCEU is established by Crossover (fiction), crossing over common plot elements, settings, cast, and characters. Warner Bros. began trying to bring various DC Comics superheroes together in films in 2002, when Wolfgang Petersen was to direct a crossover of the ''Superman in film, Superman'' and ''Batman in film, Batman'' film franchises. A planned Justice League film was put on hold in 2008. Initial universe plans were scrapped after the 2011 film ''Green Lantern (film), Green Lantern'' was a critical and commercial failure. Lois Lane is a fictional character in the DC Extended Universe, based on the DC Comics character of the same name. As with her comics counterpart, Lane is a reporter for the '' Daily Planet'' and the love interest for Clark Kent / Superman. Bruce Wayne, also known by his superhero vigilante alias Batman, is a fictional Character (arts), character in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), based on the DC Comics Batman, character of the same name. Metropolis is a fictional city appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, best known as the home of Superman and his List of Superman supporting characters, closest allies and some of his List of Superman enemies, foes. First appearing by name in ''Action Comics'' #16 (Sept. 1939), Metropolis is depicted as a prosperous and massive city in the Northeastern United States, in close proximity to Gotham City. General Zod (DC Extended Universe)
Dru-Zod is a fictional character in the DC Extended Universe based on the DC Comics character of the same name. He is portrayed by Michael Shannon. Zod first appeared in the 2013 film '' Man of Steel'', as a rogue general trying to lead a coup against the ruling elite of the planet Krypton, forcing the planet's chief scientist, Jor-El, to send his son Kal-El to Earth. Zod is punished for his war crimes, with him and his subordinates intended to be sent to the Phantom Zone, but following Krypton's destruction, he and his followers escape and follow Kal-El to Earth, forcing him to become Superman and protect the planet and its inhabitants. Krypton (comics)
Krypton is a fictional planet appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, most commonly appearing or mentioned in stories starring the superhero Superman as the world from where he came. The planet was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, and was named after the chemical element krypton. The planet was first mentioned in ''Action Comics'' #1 (June 1938) and made its first appearance in ''Superman'' #1 (1939).
