Clan of Xymox featured a trio of singers and songwriters – Ronny Moorings, Anka Wolbert, and Pieter Nooten – and gained success in the 1980s, releasing their first two albums on 4AD, before releasing their third and fourth albums on Wing Records and scoring a hit single in the United States. Their 1980s releases included synthpop/ electronic dance music. The band is still active, continuing to tour and release records with Moorings as the sole remaining original songwriter and singer. History 4AD and the Peel Sessions (1983–1988) Clan of Xymox were formed in Nijmegen, Netherlands, in 1983 by Ronny Moorings (vocals, guitar) and Anka Wolbert (bass, vocals). Medusa (Clan Of Xymox Album)
''Medusa'' is the second studio album by Dutch dark wave band Clan of Xymox. It was released on 1 November 1986 by 4AD. Founding member Pieter Nooten re-recorded the songs "After the Call" and "Theme I" on ''Sleeps with the Fishes'', his 1987 collaborative album with Michael Brook, following a brief split from the band. Critical reception ''Medusa'' is seen by some critics as the group's career high point. ''Sounds'' described ''Medusa'' as an "overriding achievement ..every track sounds like the finale to a brooding epic overture". '' Melody Maker'' wrote, "Sleek, efficient, even dramatic, Xymox understand the value of a direct understatement .. 'Medusa'' isa bright flash of hope in these blackout days". Track listing Personnel * Ronny Moorings – vocals, guitar, keyboards * Anka Wolbert – vocals, keyboards, bass guitar * Pieter Nooten – vocals, keyboards ; Technical * John Fryer – production, engineering * Keith Mitchell – engineering * Vaughan Oliver ...

Clan Of Xymox (album)
''Clan of Xymox'' is the debut studio album by Dutch dark wave band Clan of Xymox, released 1 July 1985 by 4AD. The album was produced by 4AD co-founder Ivo Watts-Russell and recorded at Palladium Studios in Edinburgh. The remixes included on the album ("A Day" and "Stranger") were mixed and produced by John Fryer at Blackwing Studios in London. Fryer had gained notability for working with seminal bands on the 4AD, Mute, Rough Trade and Beggars Banquet record labels, including Depeche Mode, Fad Gadget and Cocteau Twins. The album drew comparisons to Joy Division and the Cure and created a buzz in clubs. Reviewers in subsequent years have derided the album as dated and derivative, but accurately reflecting the emerging goth sound of the time, with "icy, throbbing keyboards; bummed-out vocals; chilly, robotic percussion; gloomy, ethereal guitars; and unusual, cryptic song titles". In 1985, ''Melody Maker'' described it as "a nervous and brilliant record" from "guitar-splayed fire ...

Mini-album
A mini-LP or mini-album is a short vinyl record album or LP, usually retailing at a lower price than an album that would be considered full-length. It is distinct from an EP due to containing more tracks and a slightly longer running length. A mini-LP is not to be confused with the Japanese CDs issued in a "mini LP sleeve" or "paper jacket". In South Korea, a mini album () is a type of music release that contains 4-7 songs. It is shorter than a full album but longer than a single album. It is usually synonymous with extended play, however, some music distributors may classify mini albums with 7 or more songs as an album. Artists often use the chronological placement of a mini album in their discography as part of the title of the release. For example, '' 2NE1 1st Mini Album'' or '' Taste of Love: The 10th Mini Album''. History Mini-LPs became popular in the early 1980s with record companies who targeted consumers who were reluctant to buy full-length and full-priced albums ...

Sleeps With The Fishes
''Sleeps with the Fishes'' is the lone collaborative album from Clan of Xymox founding member Pieter Nooten and Canadian guitarist/ producer Michael Brook, released by 4AD on 12 October 1987. Intended as Nooten's debut solo album after a brief split from Clan of Xymox, the record turned into a collaboration with Brook after a suggestion from 4AD label founder and boss Ivo Watts-Russell. Though not a huge commercial success, ''Sleeps with the Fishes'' was described by AllMusic as "essential listening for fans of 4AD, ambient music, minimalism, experimental electronic music, and morose themes alike... an overlooked masterpiece." Background According to Martin Aston's 2013 book ''Facing the Other Way: The Story of 4AD'', the genesis of the album formed after Pieter Nooten left Clan of Xymox in 1987 (leader Ronny Moorings subsequently restored the band's name to simply 'Xymox').Aston, pg.256 "For me, Pieter was the heart of Xymox, and taking him out, they became much more like their i ...
