Clairemarie Osta
Clairemarie Osta (born 1970) is a French ballet dancer who performed with the Paris Opera Ballet as an ''étoile''. In 2017, she became the head of the ballet department at the Royal Swedish Ballet School. Early life Osta was born in Nice, and started ballet at age 5. She trained at the Conservatoire de Nice, and then the Conservatoire de Paris. In 1987, she enrolled in Paris Opera Ballet School, at the encouragement of Roland Petit, and trained there for a year. Career Osta joined the Paris Opera Ballet in 1988. In 1994, she won third prize at the Varna International Ballet Competition. In 2002, at age 32, Osta was named ''étoile'' after a performance of ''Paquita''. Choreographers she had worked with include Rudolf Nureyev, Carolyn Carlson, John Neumeier, Jiří Kylián, Jerome Robbins, Roland Petit, Mats Ek and William Forsythe. Onegin (Cranko)
''Onegin'' is a ballet created by John Cranko for the Stuttgart Ballet, premiered on 13 April 1965 at Staatstheater Stuttgart. The ballet was based on Alexander Pushkin's 1825-1832 novel ''Eugene Onegin'', to music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and arrangements by Kurt-Heinz Stolze. The ballet had since been in the repertoires of The Australian Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, American Ballet Theatre and The Royal Ballet. Background and production Cranko first discovered Alexander Pushkin's verse-novel ''Eugene Onegin'' when he choreographed the dances for Tchaikovsky's opera of the same name in 1952. He first proposed a ballet based on Pushkin's story to the Royal Opera House board in the 1960s, but it was turned down, and he pursued the idea when he moved to Stuttgart. Mats Ek
Mats Ek (born 18 April 1945) is a Swedish dance and ballet choreographer, dancer and stage director. He was the manager of the Cullberg Ballet from 1985 to 1993. Life and career Ek was born in Malmö in 1945, the son of the Royal Dramatic Theatre actor Anders Ek and choreographer Birgit Cullberg. At 17, he followed a summer dance course (modern) taught by Donya Feuer. He pursued theatrical studies at the Marieborg Folks College in Sweden. From 1966 until 1973, he acted as the director for the Marionett Theater as well as the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm. In 1972, Ek joined the Cullberg Ballet. In 1975, he formed part of the corps de ballet for the Ballett der Deutschen Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf. And in 1976, he made his first choreography titled ''The Officer's Servant'' for the Cullberg Ballet. Royal Swedish Ballet
The Royal Swedish Ballet is one of the oldest ballet companies in Europe. Based in Stockholm, Sweden, King Gustav III founded the ballet in 1773 as a part of his national cultural project in response to the French and Italian dominance in this field; he also founded the Royal Swedish Opera and the Royal Dramatic Theatre. All of these were initially located in the old theatre of Bollhuset. The troupe was founded with the opening of the Royal Swedish Opera, which has served as its home since that time.
