Claire Lamarche
Claire Lamarche (born June 28, 1945) is a television personality in Quebec, Canada. She was born in Quebec City and grew up there. She studied sociology in university and then began a career in teaching. She later decided to work in television. Lamarche began work as a researcher and later was host for the popular program ''Droit de parole'' on Radio-Québec for eight years. She then joined the TVA network where she hosted a daily show ''Claire Lamarche'' for more than 12 years. She was also host of the television program ''Les Retrouvailles'' which reunited adopted children with their birth parents. Lamarche had suffered from sudden drops in blood pressure and fainting since she was young. In 1997, she collapsed on live television during a debate between national party leaders. These health problems have since been addressed with a pacemaker. She married actor who died in February 2012. The couple had three children. TVA (Canada)
TVA is a Canadian French-language terrestrial television network, owned by Groupe TVA, a publicly traded subsidiary of Quebecor Media. Headquartered in Montreal, the network only has terrestrial stations in Quebec. However, parts of New Brunswick and Ontario are within the broadcast ranges of TVA stations, and two TVA stations operate rebroadcasters in New Brunswick. The Prix Gémeaux () or Gémeaux Awards honour achievements in Canadian television and digital media that is broadcast in French. It has been sponsored by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television since 1987. MetroStar Award
The MetroStar Award (french: Prix MetroStar) was presented for achievements in French-Canadian ( Québécois) television and was based on popular vote. Many notable Québécois performing artists have been honored with this award; for example, Céline Dion in 1988 and Roy Dupuis in 1991, 1992, and 2003. The Canadian Broadcast Hall of Fame, started in 1982, recognizes Canadians in broadcasting or entertainment related industries who have "achieved outstanding success in helping raise industry standards from a material or humanitarian standpoint."
