Ciudad Colón
Colón, known as Ciudad Colón is a district and the head city of the Mora canton, in the San José province of Costa Rica. It is famous for its warm climate, proximity to nature and its surrounding mountains, folkloric traditions, horse riding, and multiculturalism. Toponymy Named after Christopher Columbus ( es, Cristobal Colón), Ciudad Colón used to be called Villa Colón, and before that it was called Pacaca, which was the name of the chief of a local tribe. Geography Colón has an area of km² and an elevation of metres. Demographics For the 2011 census, Colón had a population of inhabitants. Colón can be considered as cosmopolitan as Santa Ana or Escazu, but in terms of amenities and services available, it is considered a typical small Costa Rican town. National Secondary Route 239, is a road in Costa Rica between Ciudad Colón, San José province and Parrita, Puntarenas province. It is the main access road of the Puriscal canton of San José province. From Puriscal to Parrita, the road is dirt and gravel. History Received mayor improvements in 2019, where gabion walls were constructed near Puriscal downtown to stabilize the sides of the road, similar work was done at Route 317. United Nations University For Peace
The University for Peace (UPEACE) is an international university and intergovernmental organization. The university was established as a treaty organisation by the United Nations General Assembly in 1980. Each year, the University for Peace selects approximately 200 students globally for a master's programme ( MA or MSc) related to the study of peace and conflict, environment and development, or international law.
