Cinemaya
''Cinemaya'' (a blend of ''cinema'' and ''maya'' (illusion)) is a film magazine established in 1988 devoted exclusively to coverage of Asian film. It is published in New Delhi, India and distributed internationally. The present editor-in-chief of Cinemaya is Aruna Vasudev, noted film journalist. Its goals are to promote Asian filmmaking internationally and to help Asian national cinemas gain wider international recognition. In 1990, in collaboration with UNESCO it founded the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema, an association of film professionals based in Singapore which presents annual awards for greatest Asian achievements in filmmaking at selected film festivals around the world. Aruna Vasudev
Aruna Vasudev (born 1936) is an Indian critic, author, editor, painter, maker of documentaries and is considered an eminent scholar on Asian cinema, who has also been described as the "mother of Asian Cinema". Early life and education A younger sister of Uma Vasudeva, she was born in 1936. After marrying Sunil Kumar Roy, an Indian diplomat, she chose to retain her maiden name. His Excellency Sunil Roy died in New York from cancer in 1993, having previously served as Indian Ambassador to Poland, then Mexico, and High Commissioner to Nigeria. In the early 1960s, she attended film classes in New York where her father was working and created a number of short documentaries after her return to India. She received a doctorate from the University of Paris on cinema and censorship. Her PhD thesis was published as a book titled ''Liberty and Licence in the Indian Cinema'' in 1979. Neville Tuli
Neville Tuli (born 24 April 1964) is the Founder Chairman of the "Osian’s" Group of companies. The Group includes the Parent Company, "Osian’s Connoisseurs of Art Pvt. Ltd." (Estd. 2000, closed in 2010) and its two Subsidiary Companies, being "Osian’s Cinematic Pvt. Ltd." (Estd. 2007) and "Osianama Learning Experience Pvt. Ltd." (Estd. 2009). Network For The Promotion Of Asian Cinema
The Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) is a worldwide organization of 29 member countries. It was created as the result of a conference on Asian cinema organized by Cinemaya, the Asian Film Quarterly, in New Delhi in 1990 at the instance and with the support of UNESCO, Paris. Headquartered in Singapore, the NETPAC is a pan-Asian film cultural organization involving critics, filmmakers, festival organizers and curators, distributors and exhibitors, as well as film educators. Osian's Cinefan Festival Of Asian And Arab Cinema
Osian's-Cinefan is one of Asia's leading film-festival devoted to Asian and Arab cinema, and is part of ''Osian's Film House Division''. The festival celebrated its 10th anniversary in July 2008. After a two-year break, the 12th staging of the festival took place in July 2012. History Cinefan began in 1999 as an outgrowth of ''Cinemaya'', a quarterly Asian cinema magazine published in New Delhi since 1988. The festival was launched with 27 films presented by the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) and supported by the government of Delhi. The focus that first year was on cinema of Japan as well as the 30th anniversary of the Indian New Wave with a selection of films by New Wave directors.
